Decapitated – Vocalist Leaves Band

After nine years in the band, DECAPITATED vocalist Sauron has announced he is leaving the band. He has released this statement:

“After long consideration I have decided to leave Decapitated.
It was not an easy decision, however, I could reconcile the welfare of the band with my personal plans, and hence quitting appeared to be the best solution not hampering the evolution of Decapitated. In the face of the wide-scaled plans of the band I had to decide between being a member of Decapitated and my personal objectives. Moreover, another reason that contributed to my decision have been some health complications. In the first place I would like to thank my friends from the band for those nine years. I would also like to salute all the fans and people who supported us throughout all those years. I’m turning the mike over to an appropriate person, and what is more, I’m sure that this change will do good to the band. Respect and good luck, Covan! For my part, I’m going to keep track of Decapitated and support them in every possible way.
Regards.
Sauron.”

His position will be filled by Covan, formerly of ATROPHIA RED SUN.

CBGBs is working to build momentum and support for renewing their lease by hosting a month long series of benefit concerts for their “Save CBGB” campaign.

After 31 years of providing Rock and Roll in the heart of New York City, CBGB is struggling to get their landlord the Bowery Residence Committee, to renew their 12 year lease which expires august 31st 2005.

The Bowery Residence Committee, a not for profit homeless shelter organization that receives over 75% of its funding from New York sent a letter to CBGBs cutting off negotiations in May and has listed the property on the Real Estate MLS for anyone else who wishes to rent 313 and 315 Bowery.

The goal of these concerts is to help generate support and momentum for a quick and fair resolution for a renewed lease. All funds raised at these concerts will be used to Save CBGBs or donated to the BRC to keep fighting for the homeless upon CBGBs receiving a renewed lease.

“CBGBs supports the BRCs fight to help the homeless, we just want our lease renewed to keep this historic venue in its original place” stated Hilly Kristal, CBGBs creator and owner.

Punk and underground music of all genres will be coming together to generate support and funds.

Vio-Lence – Megaforce Records to Reissue “Eternal Nightmare” With Live Bonus CD

Megaforce Records have reissued VIO-LENCE‘s classic, “Eternal Nightmare”, with a live bonus CD this past Tuesday. San Francisco’s VIO-LENCE was a controversial band and a favorite of metal fans around the world. Noted for their intense live shows, one thing that set the band apart was their cutting lyrics. Most bands’ lyrics usually come from within, but VIO-LENCE took a different approach, using friends and acquaintances for the words. Often, this resulted in lyrics definitely of the tongue-in-cheek kind.

Formed by guitarist Phil Demmel, VIO-LENCE also featured vocalist Sean Killian, guitarist Robb Flynn, bassist Dean Dell, and drummer Perry Strickland. Heavily influenced by other thrash pioneers, the band often chose raw aggression over the more technical style of their peers. Despite VIO-LENCE‘s short career, the band’s 1988 debut “Eternal Nightmare” remains their standout album.

Also included will be a bonus disc of live material from their show at Slim’s in San Francisco.

Disc 1 (Eternal Nightmare):

1. Eternal Nightmare
2. Serial Killer
3. Phobophobia
4. Calling In The Coroner
5. T.D.S. (Take It As You Will)
6. Bodies On Bodies
7. Kill On Command

Disc 2 (Live at Slim’s):

1. Liquid Courage
2. Ageless Eyes
3. Calling In The Coroner
4. World In A World
5. Officer Nice
6. Subterfuge
7. Kill On Command
8. Phobophobia
9. Bodies On Bodies
10. I Profit
11. T.D.S.
12. Paraplegic

He began treating all the cast members on the show like dirt, and our tolerance grew low.”

On Broken Wings – Jonathan Blake Hit with Legal Charges/Fees – Eulogy Records Appeal to Fans

ON BROKEN WINGS frontman Jonathan Blake has been hit with what is being labeled “bogus charges” after a mic-stand throwing incident stemming from a recent Lousiville, Kentucky show which caused bodily harm to a member of the audience. Eulogy Records are appealing for help from fans, who can either donate money, or purchase a “Free Jonathan Blake” shirt (to view – ” Target=”_blank”>click here) to cover Blake’s growing legal fees.

A message board appeal reads as follows:

“Recently ON BROKEN WINGS played a show in Lousiville Kentucky. Apperently the venue was getting destroyed and the club was getting fed up. During On Broken Wings set Jonathan made some typical comments like “Fuck this place up” thing that mean dance hard, have fun, to us. Jonathan also throw a mic stand wich was not intended to hurt anyone however it did hurt someone. I don’t know who it hit but apperently he is an awesome dude and isn’t pressing charges and is even trying to back jonn up. So Jonn spent a couple days in Louisville jail, he recently got out on bail with a court date set for July 8th. Again if you know Jonn then you know that he has nothing but friends. No money, no home. Just us. Jonathan can not afford a decent lawyer to represent him in court. He is being charged with wanon endangerment of the first degree wich is a felony, and if convicted he will go to a federal prison. I am not asking for a free hand out. But if you are friends with Jonn Blake, or want to see ON BROKEN WINGS or SHERE KHAN in the near future, and have a ANYTHING TO SPARE. please help him out.”
