I heard "The Assasination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" is supposed to be stylistically similar, but only better. I love Western, so I think it's quite cool that they're currently trying to revive the genre. btw what's the name of the Warren Oates movie your last avatar was from again? |

That would be "Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia". One of my favourites ever. Sam Peckinpah is the fucking man.
"The Assassination..."-movie I thought looked REALLY boring and just somehow didn't appeal to me at all, so I never bothered to check it out. |

finally saw mallrats (i know, 15 years too late) i guess it was okay, but it was certainly a letdown compared to clerks (one of my favorite movies ever). i'm sure it'll grow on me though.

Just saw Shutter Island.
Worst movie of 2010. Tepid, predictable, and cliche. This movie is just terrible. |

Ugly pic, but the only English one I could find, plus it might be able give a better taste of things to expect than I am, BUT - I am able to say that much - this movie shouldn't disappoint fans of Thrillers/Horror mixed with some dark humour:

Just finished watching this
Not only one of the best Bergman films I've seen, but also one of the greatest horror movies I've ever seen. Very very hallucinatory and creepy. |

![]() Saw this yesterday and I have to say, it's been a long time since I had so much fun watching a movie. I loved every second of it. Beautiful cinematography, an incredible and fitting soundtrack as well as an amazing performance by Emile Hirsch. This film really couldn't have been any better. I also wasn't familiar with Christopher McCandless' story, so I had no idea that the plot would take such a turn at the end. The way the ending was portrayed was extremely effective, though. Especially Christopher's last line "What if I were smiling and running into your arms? Would you see then what I see now?" got stuck with me, particulary in consideration with the note he wrote into the book. Major props to Sean Penn for directing this. Quote:
Blue Velvet was shown here on some artsy fartsy channel a few days ago. I've actually seen the first season of Twin Peaks before and thought I knew what to expect, but shit, this was even weirder. "MOMMY, MOMMY, BABY WANTS TO FUCK!" However, I did enjoy watching it. Last edited by Eternal Recurrence; 02-21-2010 at 06:58 PM.. |

Need to watch it. When I saw the trailer I was blown away because it looked EXACTLY how I imagined it when I read the book...perhaps the first time a book->movie has illicited that feeling. |

plus, having read the book, you'll know what to expect and won't be disappointed when you realize it's not a horror/thriller. |
