This was all done on purpose for the sole fact that the band wanted "the loudest CD ever", and that's what they got.

Keep in mind, Will Putney (Molotov's Insurrection, SFTP's Rising Sun, Northlane's Discoveries) did this. He fucking rules at what he does.
The songwriting's pretty drastic and random, but it's what they want to do. I can honestly say the clipping doesn't bug me at all because I get it, the only thing wrong is the Blink-182 esque singing shit they added.

I'm borrowing an sm57 from a friend and this is heaven compared to the old thing.

I just did some tone tests. even without fucking around with EQ or anything there's huge instant improvement, thanks for the suggestion obslolq

Where the fuck did my post go? I forgot what I said. What are your amp settings? Sounds too gainy. Clean tone could use a hint of compression.

I feel pretty lame posting this, but I am at the point where I could use some recording tips. Some of you guys are insanely talented.

I sorta just got into recording and have been getting some less than impressive results (lack of guitar talent not included). I'm recording with a PreSonus FireStudio Mobile and am using Logic with a standard Guitar Rig patch and PSP VintageWarmer.

Here's a test I did with East of the Wall's Scumbrella (Silt). I'm so terrible :(

Sm57 going into an alesis usb mixer going into my computer. I borrowed a tascam us-100 and there was drastic improvement. So I'm thinking I need a better audio interface. What else is essential to a decent setup besides speakers?
