Anybody watching the Winter Classic? Pretty sludgy game for the most part, but OT has been exciting and now there's a shootout. 71,217 people in attendance!

Second period was pretty good. Constant stoppage to clean the snow was a bit of a flow-disrupter, but it was to be expected.

I thought it was a lot of fun, nonetheless. Hope it gets reasonable ratings, though since it's Bowl season, I doubt it will :/

Crosby's shootout shot was sweet.

Of course we (MU) wailed on Arkansas. It's a crime that Kansas got the BCS bowl over us anyway. The 2 teams per conference getting BCS games is stupid, as is Big 10 vs Pac 10 for Rose Bowl. MU vs USC would've been much more exciting, 6 vs 7 instead of 7 vs 13.

^Absolutely. Illinois does not belong in there, the PAC 10 vs Big 10 Rose Bowl tradition is retarded, and you guys got screwed big time. You only lost to OU, which I think is the best in the country right now anyway. I mean, I hope WVU upsets them, but it's a long shot.
I think now that they have the new Cowboys Stadium, they're trying to make the cotton bowl part of the BCS bowls. With another game hopefully another team won't get shafted like you guys did.

Yeah, Letang's shot was fucking slick. I just love how smart a player Sidney Crosby is...you don't see a lot of shots purposefully go through the legs like that :P

True. Crosby looked good that whole game, he usually sucks on the shoot-out though. Me and my friends all thought he was gonna blow that shit, but he proved us wrong. haha.

Which isn't saying much, but it was on against at least two football games, so I'm impressed none-the-less.

The only negative is that now the league will definitely overexpose the outdoor games and try and have two or three a year and just ruin it.

It's something that should only happen once or twice, ever. It loses it's uniqueness if it's repeated yearly.

hockey being played the way it was when it was invented is hardly a gimmick IMO.

Eh, the Stanley Cup finals are a big enough event to hold me off as a once a year thing lol...the outdoor game is a cool idea and a fantastic homage to the heritage of the sport but I think having them once in a blue moon would be best.

The edge jerseys aren't nearly as bad as I thought they were going to be, that's why I never complained about them in here :P

I agree that the outdoor games should be very rare. I mean you can call it tradition but that's like saying "Hey let's have white guys play basketball!" There's a better way to do that now. Zambonis and Blacks improve their respective sports.

As long as ESPN picks the NHL back up next year, I'll be ok.

Did anyone see the pens make a joke out of the maple leaves, conklin looks amazing (the third string goalie) malkin got his first ever hat trick, rutuu fought, everyone looked sharp as a fucking tack.

Leafs dominated the first period of that game, only got one goal, and then didn't bother showing up for the rest of the game.

Even with the lackluster effort, it was pretty even until Pens made it 3-1, then it just got silly.

Penguins hardly looked like world beaters until the third period, where they turned up the heat.
