One of the best drummers ever
Wayne Vella - im sure you all recognize the sheer technicality and bruality of this mans druming talent
the past two releases from AT have been mind blowing and waiting for a 3rd. i believe that soon Wayne's fame will be right next to Flo Mounier, George Kollias, Derek Roddy, and David Haley. and does anyone know his full kit setup? |

He's definitely an awesome drummer.
I love his snare.

Jordan Varela and Darren Cesca get my vote at the moment. Flo Mounier and Derek Roddy aren't up there with the other names in this thread.

Jordan Varela isnt anything spectacular especially with that electronic kit? and Darren Cesca is good, but he'll never be Mike Van Dyke Last edited by ShadowFactoryX; 03-06-2007 at 11:42 PM. |

Mike Van Dyke? Are you serious?
And bugger me, but blasting on electronic toms is a lot harder than on a proper kit. I've never heard better counter rhythms in tech death than Varela's work on Domination Through Impurity. [ed] Just listened to Abysmal Torment tonight and... erm. One of the best drummers ever? I like his style, but it doesn't sound far removed from a lot of other half-decent bdm.

aparenly you dont know what you are talking about.
blasting on an electric kit is about the same if not easier, you have to be retarded to think its harder and i do know, because i own an acoutic (not "proper" mind you) and electric kit. |

bobby jarzombek >>>>> anyone listed here.
and flo sucks. IMO drumming is much more than insane chops, and for me, someone who has devoted over a decade of my life to gaining knowledge and practicing hours a day to become a proficient percussionist, drumming is a trade of feel, chops, and phrasing. for death metal, i don't think it gets much better than flo, but to say that flo mounier is the best drummer of all time is stupid. he's nowhere's near versatile enough to even be in contention.

You're judging his versatility as a drummer based on his drumming in Cryptopsy, I'm guessing. Until you've seen him play other styles of music I don't think you can say he's "not versatile enough to be the best drummer." Just because he doesn't do polka beats and jazz drumming (does to an extent in cryptopsy) or latin style beats in his death metal band, doesn't mean he CAN'T do them, and doesn't mean he's not amazing at doing them.
