Thumbs up

Hey, the photo's a great idea (By the way, what's that in the upper right corner? ;) )! I'll try to do the same later.
*sighs* My collection still doesn't surpass yours ... I still miss the "Eternal Wedlock"-demo and the "Promo '94"-tape (Thanx to The Viking I got at least the songs and scans of the latter one, though! :beerchug: )!

All the best,

(just back from Scandinavia, and I love the cold!) :FIREdevil

ps.: good to see that beautifull framed poster again. Brings back loads of good memories. Did the poster move within the frame?

Yes it did. Not happy Jan! $160 and it lasted barely a year. I guess I have moved three times since then, but still.

Hmm hard to say since one isn't opened! I guess they just have a different catalogue number and manufacturer. And maybe the booklet pages are in order!

The sticker is just some promo stuff, it says "A deluxe 2 CD collection from one of metal's most unique and creative bands. Contains Alchemist classics, band favourites, rare demos, unreleased recordings, liner notes, and photography encompassing the band's early years. For fans of Opeth, Amorphis, Dark Tranquility, Strapping Young Lad, Soilwork and Amorphis."

Yep, that is the difference between the Aussie and the Euro/US version. The first Aussie pressing ( I think they printed a 1000 or 2000 pieces in the first run) had the pages in the wrong order. Things should be taken care of for the second print though.
Relapse had them in the correct order from the start.

Cheers,

please remember it's not a competition. It's just that I have the 'collectors disease', and love it.

It has been talked about before, and when I find the time, I will do a full discography of the items I have. Way to busy at the moment with other things though.

Cheers,

It's the Aussie pressing, but with a sticker over the barcode/address with the address of the US office. The colour of the inlay is a little different, but besides that, it's the same disc. I first had the US version, otherwise I probebly wouldn't have known. Details will be included in the discography.

It's a four track (cdr) promo, which was printed late 2005, as a promoter needed something to try and book shows. It didn't work out the way we all would have liked, so there were no Euro shows booked for 2006. This should be taken care of for next year though.

haha, I just got a message from the post office that my Japanese order arrived. They released 'Embryonics' in Japan as well. I have both now, although I haven't seen them yet. Might take a few shots tonight, and post them here tomorrow. Since I didn't have them yet, I didn't mention them in my list yesterday. I doubt there is a bonus track on the Japanese 'Austral Alien' though, but will be able to give details about that later.

As I already said above I clearly understand your point of view in this regard. I also am familiar with the 242nd Ferengi Rule Of Acquisition ("More is good ... all is better.")! ;)
If I had that CD-R I probably would feel the same way as you - because just like you I simply cannot get enough of ALCHEMIST! - but, unfortunately, I don't ...
And that's why I envy you for being the lucky guy that you are. I'm very sorry for bringing this up time and again but I just cannot help it. :(

As far as I know, "Organasm" wasn't released there, was it? In that case Relapse probably gave them a song off that album to use as a bonus track. Something similar was done with one of the recent Holy Moses-albums, e.g.

I have seen the tracklisting on a few Japanese websites, and there wasn't a bonus track there. Will check when I get home though, and let you know tomorrow.

Like I mentioned before, I did get the Japanese Alchemist releases 'Austral Alien' and 'Embryonics' yesterday.
The cd's are the same as the US versions, but like most Japanese releases, they have a black and white insert (in Japanese) and the *famous* OBI around the side-spine (some Relapse releases had a top spine, but Relapse stopped doing that because it was to expencive).

'Austral Alien' has cat.no. YSCY 1031 on the OBI, where the Relapse No. is still RR 6577-2 (just like on the Euro/US pressing).

'Embryonics' has cat.no YSCY 1032 / 1033 on the OBI, and the Relapse No. is still RR 6458-2 (also, like on the Euro/US pressing).

I have also uploaded shots in my previous post, where you can see shots of the other Alchemist items I have. If you don't want to check old posts, check here:

I'm always looking for other Alchemist (related) releases, so please let me know if there is anything that you know about, that is not mentioned in my list.

So Amazon lied! That's :censor: despicable!!!
Thanx a lot for clarifying this matter!

So that's what these things are called! Is that an acronym or an actual Japanese word?

That's too bad - I thought they looked pretty neat!
Thanx a lot for providing us with pictures of your treasures!
But hey, where are the special items you teased us with?! :1pirate:
After some days of troubles with my new WLAN modem / router I finally managed to upload a picture of my own little ALCHEMIST-collection:

In the top row there's a "Metal For The Brain XI"-, an "Organasm"-, an "Austral Alien"-, and an "Embryonics"-T-Shirt as well as an "Austral Alien"-Longsleeve.
In the middle row there's a 1990 demo, a CD-R featuring ALCHEMIST-demos / -promos 1990, 1991, 1994 & 1999, the 1993 Austrian original release of "Jar Of Kingdom"by Lethal Records, the Aussie versions of "Lunasphere", "Spiritech", "Eve Of The War", and "Jar Of Kingdom" (1999), the 1999 promo, the original European version of "Organasm" by Displeased Records, the European version of "Austral Alien", and the original Aussie version of "Embryonics" as well as the packaging - hand-written by Adam himself - of the CD I received as one of the winners of ALCHEMIST's "Austral Alien"-competition.
In the bottom row there's a security wrist-band I got from Rod on October 20, 2004 in Prague, my wardrobe receipt of that night, a "European Tour"-patch, an "Austral Alien"-badge / pin, the set list of that show autographed by all the band members, my ticket to that show, an ALCHEMIST-logo patch, and seven more badges / pins as well as an "Austral Alien"-bottle opener!

Mick that is so naughty of you! It's some kind of backwards-German, I think you'll find.

Nice collection Mick, especially the way you have lovingly kept it all.

So who gets first prize?

No, no, no, backwards-German was outlawed a few years ago because it breeds satanist right-wing nut jobs or something like that. ;)

First of all, how did you learn about our recent (One day before Roy's birthday!) wedding?
I tried to keep mum about it around here because I'm so ashamed of not being able to have Rod's company film it ...
Secondly, do you really have to quote my spelling errors?! It's so embarrassing ... ;-)
And finally: Yes, she does know about that, uh, emotional thing I've got going for certain women, girls, and chicks (Just have a look at my avatar, e.g.! ) and she's as fine with it as I'm cool with her pining for Christian Bale!

I nominate zealot who started this thread and probably is too modest to show off his ALCHEMIST-treasures!

I've got all the CD's from Lunasphere to Embryonics including the Jar re-issue, two T shirts, (blue Organasm and Euro tour) and a set of the buttons/bottle opener courtesy of Roy.

Peace, Glen.

Thanks, DecadentHeroine, and welcome!

Keep an eye out on eBay or gemm.com for Spiritech - it pops up from time to time and sooooo well worth it - but you don't need me to tell you that. ;)
