Re: Best band you've seen live.

Baring Teeth - I've seen them countless times and they never cease to amaze me

Disgorge - Saw them during the Parallels tour...probably 6 people were there in attendance.

Inquisition - Perfect.

Immolation - I've seen them several times live, but the time I saw them when they were on tour with Suffocation they were really on their A game

Mournful Congregation - Again, another band that was on their A game. Saw em at Rites which was good, but they were especially good when I saw them in Austin the following day.

Re: Best band you've seen live.

The Prodigy in 2009 I think is the best music show I've been to. If they're playing near you, go and see them, you won't regret it. I saw WASP in Oslo and they were great fun.
I will mention I saw Placebo in Paris in 2006 and it was a phenonamal performance. Brian loves to play French audiences, and the show was worth the huge travel and ticket cost.
Also, I watched Soundgarden open for Black Sabbath at Castle Donnington, maybe in 2011? Was particularly memorable.

Most boring would be probably Nile at The Underground, London or Dream Theatre at Hammersmith Appollo, London, just really boring. I saw DT before that at Ozzfest/Download in 2007 and they were amazing so maybe they were just off that night.

Cult of Luna and Meshuggah. Seen them both several times, and they've always been utterly immense in their own ways.

Immolation, December and Gorod are fun runners-up.

Oh yeah, Akercocke were excellent. Jason's voice was flawless live. Very impressive, and yeah, A Skin for Dancing In was epic.

So many great gigs over the years but Rush would possibly taking the top spot.

Tribulation on Saturday were 10/10. Could've watched them for hours.

Re: Best band you've seen live.

AntaeuS

Given the right circumstances (not always a given) you'll witness 5 men bringing the most insane noise and presentation ever. WolfThrone was a BRILLIANT example of this (Gibus03 footage in the flesh), as Rites of Darkness back in 2011 (Helsinkiset was lacklustre I think, but FUCK Helsinki, fucking HARD, 100% filled with absolute faggots, if you live in Helsinki fuck off) (do Reverend Bizarre live in Helsinki?)(editofcoursenotLohjaPower). Setlist was a bit different on both occasions. This is music that fucks you up live, wave upon wave of bludgeoning riffs (first and only time I'll use that term, fuck off Fantano) and grindalicious blasts (ditto), combined with half improvised lyrics and unconscious stage presence by MkM.

Adversarial

Only saw them at Rites of Darkness but they were fucking worth travelling thousands of miles on their own. Carlos is one of, fuck that, THE best death metal guitarist of the last 10 years in my opinion. Not a single "just powerchords there's gonna be vocals on top of this anyway"-riff in sight, his left hand is CONSTANTLY shifting around the fretboard delivering insane and most of all inspired riffs (didn't even know how technical they were 'till I saw live footage), all the while throwing himself at the mic, fucking passionate shit right there mang.
AND THEN THE DRUMS holy shit. Thralls-demo drums = best recorded drums ever, and this guy DELIVERS live, fucking machinelike precision and intensity, none of that DADADADADADADadadadadDADADada inconsistency, fuck no, 100% intensityblastbeatsfuuuck.

Kickback in Magasin4 Brussels about a year ago.

Geared up nicely for this one and then two people I were to go with bailed so I had all the cocaine to myself. Thank God I did because holy shit did I get my ass kicked.
Setlist was LONG as fuck too, played EVERY song I wanted to hear (except for maybe Still on the Prowl, I think?) and then some. All the while Stephan & Pascal are fucking up the faggot crowd, kicking in faces & cameras at the front row, throwing in "BRRRRA"s, insulting, spitting, ... Fucking glorious. Speed actually makes you play tight as fuck too.

Also DJ Shadow's liveset on Soundwave last year was the most insane DJ-set I've EVER heard. Don't recall being on drugs then and even then me and a couple of friends just fucking burst out laughing multiple times going "HOLY SHIT HOW DID THIS PIECE OF MUSIC COME TO BE ALL OF A SUDDEN" in absolute disbelief. Fucking schooled every fucking DJ that played there, this is how you fucking DO it. Bonuspoints for "By the way people, there's no laptops up here."

Re: Best band you've seen live.

Meshuggah's probably number one for me. Their live show is the pinnacle of live shows. Immense sound, tripping balls light show, whole crowd is usually a sea of energy.

Others:
Defeated Sanity
Car Bomb
Kayo Dot
Ben Monder
Dying Fetus
Intronaut

Re: Best band you've seen live.

Suffocation has never disappointed me. I'm not sure about the best live band I've ever seen, but they're up there.

Powerglove is always fun.

Agalloch was pretty good.

Purity Ring also comes to mind.

The first time I saw Animals as Leaders I was really impressed.

Dying Fetus is consistently tight as fuck.

Augury with TBDM a few years ago. I'd never heard of Augury before that and I was pretty much blown away.

Wintersun was really good recently. Their whole set was pretty much flawless, at least to me.

The Casualties were pretty entertaining when I saw them about 8 years ago.

Decrepit Birth were good as fuck when I last saw them a bit ago when Derek Boyer was playing bass for them.

The Human Abstract was pretty good when they first came out and still had Michael Nordeen on bass.

Intronaut was really good.

Immolation was really good when I saw them with Napalm Death, who are also pretty good.

Origin was really good when I saw them as well.
