I work my ass off and save money everywhere I can! I'm not a rich kid or anything, just in a lucky position to dedicate the majority of my income towards music.
I actually wasn't intending on getting a B6, but an opportunity arose to score one, so I jumped on it. Fucking glad I did, it's an absolute animal, with a whole different set of strengths to the B2. Plus I can play it live without shitting myself about damaging it.

I really can't confirm the price of/available options for the B6 when/if they start production. When the price was set at £1050 for the initial run, it was based on using Idigbo as the body wood. Doug found a source of quality swamp ash for only a bit more, and by means of apology for their completion being delayed (Doug was out of action for two months after breaking a couple of ribs in a motorbike accident), used that instead as he considers it a higher-quality tonewood. In all likelihood, any further B6s will also be made from swamp ash, but the price will reflect the upgrade, plus the fact that Doug mainly sources his woods from the US, so may have to increase his prices if the exchange rate doesn't get any better for us (though obviously the guitar will become less affordable for Americans by the same token).
Also, remember that many of the standard options on the custom models are optional extras on the B6 (camo covers, locking tuners, straplocks, coil-splitting). Any model of Bare Knuckle, Hauessel, Lundgren, DiMarzio, Seymour Duncan, or EMG is covered in the base cost though.

More pics!:

Sorry to kill the awesome gear mood, but this is my new rig:

bass is fender american jazz
little head on top is Eden WT-260
pedal is Zoom 506II Bass (ghetto preamp for now, contains many shitty effects)
combo is Hartke B60
cab is Aguilar DB410, 4ohm version

bass goes through pedal. pedal goes into eden head. eden head goes into cab via XLR speaker output. eden head also goes out of effects loop send and into active input on combo.

Not picking on you by any means but Precision Basses don't get nearly enough love. I've yet to find a bass that sounds as good running through distortion as a P bass...they just sound gnarly as fuck period. Love the way they cut through everything.

I was thinking that, but I use this for jazz, too, so, like, y'know

I also like the feel of the jazz bass better. the offset body is really comfortable to play, and i have tiny hands so the thinner neck is nice, too.

As someone who took Cabinetmaking in a trade school, I've always liked the look of ash, but never really seen it applied that beautifully to anything. Congrats on that, Nolly.

Yeah it requires a lot of initial money to run a shop though. You pretty much need a vacuum system and space, not to even mention the price of a jointer, planer, table saw, sander, etc.

Although if you happen to have a couple thousand dollars, you can get all-in-one machines imported from Europe.

Working with wood like the Blackmachine dude does would be so nerveracking. I wonder if he's ever fucked up.

How is the neck? What would you compare it most to? And how does it handle super low action? I'm going to get one whenever I feel I can justify spending $4000 on a guitar.

Cheers guys, obviously there's no credit due to me whatsoever, but it's cool that you appreciate the work that's gone into this.
I'm in a rush at the moment, so I'm going to be cheeky and just link you to a thread I made about it on a different forum. I did a fairly extensive review, including talking about the set up and the neck shapes on both my B6 and B2, and there are some other detailed answers throughout the thread.

http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/sta...achine-b6.html

Oh, and yeah, Doug does fuck up from time to time, though he says he hasn't in a while. He has even finished a customer's guitar, got it all strung up, hit a few chords on it, then destroyed it and started from scratch because the sound wasn't up to his standards.

I don't I'm afraid, in fact I can even confirm that it will happen. The price is likely to be around £1200-1400 I guess, but that is a complete shot in the dark.

Those guitars are just beautiful.

And an update on my new rig... instead of a shitty effects pedal I'm running it through a vintage Big Muff distortion pedal that's older than I am. It sounds amazing, and looks badass as anything.

yeah, if you work with wood, you're going to fuck up from time to time. its just how it is. A kid in my shop built a guitar, stacking two 1/4 inch sheets of birds eye maple into a block of mahogany. You could tell it took a lot of focus and effort, but its definitely an awesome process to watch.

Hey I saw pics of Paul's and Dusty's pedal boards.
All these pedal boards have everything but Distortion pedals? I also herd they don't use there amps for the distortion they get it out of their pedals. But how can that be if they're are no distortion pedal's? Wheres the Boss Metalcore, HM-2, Metalzone ect? Where do they get the chugs from if they only use some delays and a tube screamer? wtf? Can someone get me some proof of where they get their chugs from?

Whoever told you they dont use there amps to get distortion is wrong. They both use the overdrive channel on the dual rec which already as alot of gain and distortion for metal, and then to top it up a bit, and give it more bite and chuggyness they use a tubescreamer. I know this cause i've spoke to dusty myself about his rig. I also do the same thing with my single rectifier
