Good TV Shows?

I loved Top Boy it made me give Gomorrah another shot the first two seasons are excellent on the third now. The evolution of all the characters even secondary ones is sublime where I think it outshines Top Boy which is about the two main protagonists as attached as we may become to the others.

Unpredictable television makes riveting. I also loved too old to die young I had to laugh at journalists berating the violence against women like a few get shot dead the men get amputated and beaten and whipped over days until there a pulpy mess haha such a crazy world these writers trying to score points.

I agree the pace can be excruciating but visually it’s beautifully shot and every character is intricately woven by motive and light and dark. Except for Baldwin he’s all without soul. I eagerly await the sequel as the god film with gosling was that guy’s style to an insufferably slow conclusion.

Finished all 4 seasons of Gomorra. It’s really annoying how bad the subtitles are, makes it really hard to know what is happening exactly a lot of the time. Found some elements to it straining credibility. Furthermore, I sense a certain sadistic glee with which the creator(s) of the show let(s) everything pan out in what seems to be the most gruesome outcome every time. An element I certainly enjoyed tremendously, but which some might find troubling. Overall it’s a brilliant show on many levels and I can’t wait for more.

The worst scene for me is the guy getting shot in the head by his bathtub by the kids, one of the henchmen in season 1. I really thought all they’d do is give him a beat down.

Everything else is basically the gritty comeuppance of that way of life.

Even Ciro’s daughter or the matriarch or even the girl in the wedding dress being gunned down, although shocking, was just accepted as part and parcel of the slums they lived in.

Just binged The Pharmacist (4 parter). Absolutely nuts. Very well-crafted doc about a really compelling story

Has anyone seen the new Chapelle..... thing? On Netflix. I tried but had to stop after 5 minutes. What a complete sellout. It's ironic though - I remember a time where we didn't have any of his material when he weirdly disappeared for a long time and we all wanted more Chapelle Show. Then, he came back with a shit ton of specials and I thought they were all great, albeit a little annoying sometimes on a personal level, but legitimately funny. Now it's like... too much. And whatever that Mark Twain award bullshit was the cringiest shit I've seen in a while

On another note, I just noticed there's a new season of Ozark. I'm not a big fan of TV shows in general, but Ozark is one of the few that I actually enjoyed. Can anyone recommend Season 3, or is it just another example of a series bleeding itself dry?

I really enjoyed the Mark Twain award, I thought his friends sent him off in style and his speech was forthright, glamorous. It’s a tough time being a comic although the indignant culture appears to be dying down, who else to be the figurehead of the countermovement with a standup like killing them softly?

However, that this award was attributed to him following his plagiarism of Owen Benjamin’s alphabet people bit, released as a central theme to his new special, is a sham of events. That Owen took no offense is a class act, although there is no denying Chapelle’s brilliance or cultural impact.

Speaking of, Westworld s3 has been different (clearly lower budget) but still solid. I went to a few places in Singapore where they shot it.

Westworld season 1 was great, season 2 was a huge mess and hard to follow. Season 3 so far hasn't been that great either. I preferred when the show was more focused on the adventures inside the themed worlds then what it has become now with the plot.

I would hold off. S3 didn't end well - but it's clearly setting up something better and the only thing that really matters at this point is how the show ends.

The Last Dance is for sure an essential watch for every NBA fan and the S2 of The Shivering Truth has started recently, pure mindfuck, surprised that more people are not talking about it.

It doesn't matter, the money is already spent, but there are 1080p rips of it from 20 days ago, so you probably did miss them at the time...and I get you, in Slovenia the Netflix selection of shows is sub par as well, so there is zero chance I would throw my money at them.
