Necrotic Disgorgement - Suffocated In Shrinkwrap.

Really like the raw sound on this one, and the constrast with the ultra guttural voice and the almost melodic soli.

Re: what are you listening to?

Hey Andr?, Sammy J, you may like Ad Patres, a French death band in the polish vein.

Listening to Sickening Horror, to think them and Disavowed, the two catchiest death metal bands in the space of a month.

Thanks Duff, I?ll check Ad Patres. I feel we normally have similar love for the polish DM steez, so I?m keen to suss.

Speaking of which, I?m always on the look out for under the radar gems. Dies Irae?s 2004 album ?Sculpture Of Stone? would be worth checking out if you?re not familiar. Not on Spotify, but you?ll be able to find it.

You need to check out REGURGITATION's "Clitoradectomy" EP

All the songs on that EP were later re-recorded for Necrotic Disgorgement.

It had something to do with Brian Baxter disappearing.

Re: what are you listening to?

Hey Sammy J while I agree they are polish I’m hearing just chubby hate eternal. Am I missing something?

New Pyrrhon is excellent - after three consecutive, blistering opening tracks I wondered how they’d go, and of course entirely suitably is the way. Amg says ‘more of the same’, but who sounds like Pyrrhon? Lovely drum production.

Looking forward to exocrine and cytotoxin. Temple nightside have a new one soon.

Also 16 is some great sludge.

Awwwwwww yiss Novy-fronted death metal.

The way his bass just shits all over everything at 1.08 is just ridiculous.

Of course I had this EP for a long time now (2014), I bought the reissue of Tales Of Necrophilia last year as well. Despite the awful drums production last Necrotic Disgorgement is pretty good imo.

I'm French so I know Ad Patres, I think they play to safe, nod bad but lack something. Need to relisten with more focus though.

Akercocke - Choronzon.

My mans gets it. Novy on the Bass/Vox, Doc on the kit, Mauser and Hiro on the guitars. That?s 3 ex Vader members and Hiro, who was in Skeptic and spent a little time with Decapitated as a live second guitarist.

Duff, personally I don’t really hear the Hate Eternal comparison. More Vader/Decapitated vibe for me. Particularly tracks like Unrevealed by Words and Beyond All Dimensions. Not as brutal, relentless and technical as someone like Hate Eternal, more riffy and imperialistic like Polish DM can be.

Damn shame they aren?t still putting stuff out. I feel like there aren?t enough bands with that classic Polish sound.

Blasphemer - The Sixth Hour.

Don't expected anything from this fellas since the signing with a bigger label, but it's a good turn, death metal as it should be with sinister riffs (some reminds me Dead Congregation) climax and full of blasts.

YES
Been bumping this all week. I used to think Blood Oath was boring af. So many great cuts. Mental hemorrhage, images of purgatory, provoking the disturbed, come hell or high priest, and pray for forgiveness have riffs and sections I never picked up before. After giving it a real chance Its much more dense and intricate than I recall. The first minute of mental hemorrhage goes through four different riffs that are easy to miss because of the slams that come later. Also the final minute is nuts. The songs also have a good flow that become more apparent after repeat listens.
The problem with Suffo is comparing an album like Blood Oath to human waste, effigy, pierced, breeding. Compared to those albums Blood Oath is completely trivial but taken on its own without comparison its a good release. Every album sucks when compared to Pierced.
Also I adore souls to deny track for track.
Good post.

Re: what are you listening to?

Souls to Deny is a classic I think, the ending ‘Behoooold... tha toms of acrimoney... oney...’, then that melodic opening riff to close it. Beast. A real shame Mike was dissatisfied so much with the band as once he left they lost a great deal.

Listening to Fornicus and actually digging that Dearth record, but really relistening to some of my faves I’m surprised the scene didn’t totally give up after the last Adversarial, that album is a masterclass on the black arts.

Also really enjoying Cerebrum on Transcending Obscurity, just off kilter and catchy enough.

Re-recording of waldergefluster demo is amazing.

New Aversio Humanitatis is great but less Ulcerate and more blaze of perdition than I was expecting.

Hail spirit noir is sweet, although appears like Code mixed with King Crimson, I thought they’d be more avant garde. Best ics vortex impression I’ve ever heard.

Void ceremony is something special, and I’m finding the new pyrrhon very disappointing; appears a lot of noise, which if your adding your improv to what sort of an album is it really? I’ll persevere with it. Is this what their last ep sounded like?

New enslaved soon eeee.

Re: what are you listening to?

^ Damn, you remember me that I have to order the new DS.

For the moment listening to this, it's been a long time... Excellent death metal release with a good balance between riffs/atmosphere/songwriting and (even if I hate this word) technicality:
