Just finished the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Trilogy, it was pretty good. Reread The Catcher in The Rye. Now I'm reading some book called The Presence by John Saul...seems to be a half decent supernatural thriller so far.

About half-way through this. I'm trying to get through all the science fiction "classics".

It's pretty good so far, but I have yet to grok its fullness.

I wanted to pick up "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" last time at the book store, but they didn't have it. I haven't read any of his books; is that a good place to start?

I've basically only read "Dune", some of its chronicles, and "Brave New World", so feel free to recommend me some classic/great SF.

Pretty decent book but I'm personally more partial to the film. I haven't read loads of his stuff but I've found him to be conceptually brilliant, but a little bit lacking in terms of depth. Maybe I need to explore more of his work though.

Definitely read VALIS, The Divine Invasion and The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch

edit - Also, Flow My Tears The Policeman Said

The Trilogy of VALIS, The Divine Invasion and The Transmigration of Timothy Archer is his magnum opus, no doubt about it. However, the third one wasn't completed by him (due to him dying) and you can tell. It's a good read, but not as spectacular as the previous 2. I'd definitely recommend VALIS first, as it's my favorite but alas, it's one of the least Sci-Fi of his Bibliography

Yeah, he seemed to favor short stories for that reason. I've only read shorts, none of his novels, so I don't know for sure. Some of the shorts are pretty bad ass though.

I read that in high school. Found myself laughing like a retard at quite a few parts.

The series weakens with the last two but I still love the shit out of it. Definitely at least make it through Storm of Swords.

This, but I still had the strength to make it through and I think he noticed the problems with it and intends to fix it (IE not adding any more POV characters, etc).

Almost finished. An interesting study on how primitive symbols manifest through the uncoscious and work their way into dreams, religion and art.

Great premise, very interesting protagonist. I'm ony about a quarter into this one so far. I'm really beginning to like Chuck as an author.

half the time i love it, half the time i don't know what i'm reading. it's a mixed bag lol.

all i ever read are short stories/sci-fi/horror so i picked up a philosophy book to mix it up.

There are so many books, movies and bands out there, it's a bit overwhelming. Will probably Finish the Hunger games trilogy at some point.

If I recall correctly I really enjoyed that one, but quite a bit of it wasn't actually written by Jung.

edit - Also, Survivor is probably tied with Fight Club as my favorite Palahniuk. It's not so button pushing as to be self-parodying like his later stuff.

^nice. My brother is reading it, too. How is that Cornwell book?

Since I had already watched the first season I decided to just skip it and started reading A Clash of Kings a few weeks ago.

That Cornwell book is great just as is the whole Saxon Tales series, but I feel like each new book has gotten quite formulaic now and misses some of the excitement of the first few books. It's historical fiction about vikings and saxons in 10th century england, quite a page turner to me haha, the battles and the descriptions of the shield walls clashing against each other never get old. The first few books are better because the protagonist engages in a lot more pillaging, raping and other viking activities than the latter books. All are very enjoyable however and Cornwell knows how to write some entertaining medieval fiction.

Good idea. I read the first book and it's virtually identical to the TV series. It wasn't enjoyable knowing what would happen all the time.

Someone was kind enough to donate a shit tonne of books to me, so I recently finished Disgrace. Good stuff.

That's right. I bought it under false pretences thinking it was all Jung but he only wrote the first chapter and apparantly edited the rest. Still it's pretty insightful and helps that each chapter is written by an expert in it's respective field.

Just finished this up! The next season of this show is going to be insane if they do it properly. I doubt they will though it would be nearly impossible to do it justice on the tv. Nobody is safe in this fuckin' series.

Almost finished it. Good shit, a little cheesy by today's sci-fi standards with regards to the aliens but that's easily forgiven. Any suggestions on the next Vonnegut book to check out?
