New Tool album insider info

So some of you may or may not know I'm from Libertyville, IL, a north suburb of Chicago but more importantly it's where Adam Jones(Tool) and Tom Morello grew up and still have several family members and roots there. Adam's brother still works and lives in the area and I happened to run into one of his good friends who stays in the loop as she is also friends with Adam. What I found out is that the new Tool album is 95-99% done and they are mainly figuring out how they want to release it. Their first video is already shot and the album will be released in early 2013. They may release it online like Radiohead did for In Rainbows but rest assured there will be a physical release either right away or shortly after the online release. Expect tour support shortly after but don't be surprised when it either is online without any prior news or released shortly after an announcement about the album.

Thanks, I personally hate most of their fans(you know the ones, the diehards who obsess over Maynard's lyrics and pretty much only listen to them) and know not everyone here likes them but I was pretty excited when I heard the news. To me they're one of the most consistent bands around and you never hear much from them since it's usually 5 years or so between albums so I thought I'd pass the info along.

I still won't hold my breath, while I am certainly keen for an album, until official announcements come out there's still many months in 2013...

But regardless, hopefully what you're saying is true because while I don't sit around and eagerly await every release they put out(which would be foolish considering how long they take) I will most certainly listen if/when it does drop.

I that I like it better this way to be honest. Unsaturated awesomeness. That being said, it better be better than 10,000 Shits.

Yeah, I'd tack on an entire year just to be safe.

I also think that Salival is severely underrated for what it is. Their version of "No Quarter" is one of my favorite covers ever and the alternative live version of "Pushit" is phenomenal as well.

I loved Salival.

But Lateralus is clearly the best thing they've put out.

10,000 days has some good songs on it, but is definitely their weakest release.

Lateralus definitely is their best work. But the drum mix on Aenima gives me such a raging hard on haha. If bands are going to do lame shit like trigger their drums they should at least be cool about it and use samples from Danny's kit.

I'm not one of those dudes who is a complete Tool fanboy, but I'm pretty sure the title track from Lateralus is my favorite song.
