It's a good movie but a bit too long and nothing out of the ordinary. But Carice is a great actress, regardless of her many nude scenes. I've yet to see a Dutch movie with her that disappoints me in terms of her acting.
She had a relationship with the nazi (played by Sebastian Koch) she also gets involved with in the movie. But apparently they broke up over last summer or something.
When this break up hit the Dutch news channels Carice received many marriage proposals hahaha.
I watched the dutch one with the subs and there were two or three songs which featured her singing, the one that comes to mind is the one she gets up and sings during the dinner party. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_B...8soundtrack%29

As for the nazi guy I remember finding that out and loving/hating him for it, like it made the movie more realistic but also that fatass shouldn't be pulling that kind of trim.

So yes, I am pro-break up.

Ah right, I forgot she sings in the movie. Been several years since I've seen it.
It's a shame she barely was in "Valkyrie". Wonder how big her role in "Repo men" and "Black death" will be.

And yes, her innocent Bambi eyes will make any man's knees shake.
She participated in Zomergasten (summer guests), a Dutch TV program where well known Dutch people get invited to talk for 4 hours about their lives. They do this based on movie/music fragments of things that have made a profound impact or played a significant role in their lives.

Here's the final 9 mins of the episode with Carice:

I watched Antichrist a couple days ago and now that I had time to let it digest I can honestly say I loved it and it is a brilliant film. While the settings (especially the epilogue) were extremely beautiful, the beauty is perfectly contrasted with brutal and painful sexual violence. It perfectly shows the beauty of nature as well as the horror of nature.

Also, the fox scene creeped me out.

The more I think about it, the less I liked The Cove. It's structured in such a way that it's akin to a fictional thriller, and the actual buildup and the way the interviews and footage are arranged is very compelling. But the content just doesn't do it for me. These animals aren't endangered. So what if the Japanese kill 1500 or so a year?

Also they way they acted like the mercury thing was a big revelation was a joke, like anyone who watches the news hasn't heard about that already.

You're missing the big picture even. They're selling unhappy dolphins which have been scientifically proven to be highly intelligent beings to Seaworld and the likes to perform for our amusement. Richard O'Barry's regrets about being an important player in getting this lucrative business going is heartbreaking.
That you don't care about all the other dolphins being killed is uhm your choice I guess but to others who actually have a sensitive caring bone this is outrageous.
I don't think they make that big a deal of the mercury percentage but they simply cover it since it is an important point to make. Maybe your assumption that everyone already knows this isn't all that accurate.
As the few street interviews show, Japanese people are totally unaware of the fact that they're buying dolphin meat with high mercury percentages.
Still think it's "a joke"?

i'd say 1/10 only for the technical execution. but with 450 million $, i doubt you could find a studio that wouldn't make it look good. and it would be hard to find a studio to make a shittier movie and more boring design

Recently saw both of these:

Neither lived up to the hype for me, but were mildly entertaining.

Recently rented these, however, and I like it so far:

I didn't buy this either..hippie propaganda..What about the fisherman with families to feed.. who by the way were made out to look like monsters. They said that "23,000 dolphins were slaughtered ever year"...bullshit. The season is a month long, and is regulated. Bottle-nose Dolphins are far from extinct.

Now sure, it's sad when they kill the wittle smiling fishes, but how can you decide what animals are 'proper" to eat? All should have the same fate, unless endangered. Killing a deer or a cow is exactly the same IMO

If you don't like it, don't eat meat. To each his own.

Then free all the monkeys too. What makes the dolphins different the rest of the zoo animals? They get just as stressed/depressed also, right? You might have missed my point.

I did forget to mention..I did like the film.... but I just don't believe and support ideas when I only hear one side to the story.

Watched one documentary this week..was hilarious ...

Maybe you're right, not everyone might know about the mercury poisoning thing and it is important. And O'Barry's story is heartwrenching, but you have to remember that he was totally fine with training dolphins until it stopped being so lucrative.

Finally got around to watching 500 Days of Summer.

Good ass movie, I went into it expecting to rub my penis raw from all the Zooey action but I loved how it was a complete 180 by the end of the flick.

Dolphins DIE from depression, or atleast we know they are highly sensitive. I don't know about other animals but all I've seen monkeys do is chuck shit at observers.

Dolphins... they're dolphins. They are like dogs, would you kill a dog?

The Road

i can't make any comparisons to the book, because i haven't read it yet, but the movie was unbelievably bleak and depressing. Viggo was fantastic and while the whole post-apocalyptic visuals were great, there was a real sense of isolation and loneliness about it that was crushing, which is what put it over the top for me. i really, really enjoyed it, i'm just not sure i could watch it again any time soon.
