Don't get your panties twisted. :) My post wasn't directed at anyone. The post I made is in response to the things I read that people post on a lot of forums. The majority of message board critics always have the same opinions in regards to bands of this style.

It seems that progressive (if you want to call it that) music is becoming the new metalcore. A lot of kids appear to be hopping on the Mastodon, Baroness *insert sludge/metal band with classic rock/jazz influence* bandwagon and the second a band doesn't throw out a crazy time signature or play enough dwidly, dwidly melody lines, these kids complain. I never really see a famous painter venture outside of his signature style and I think musicians should treat their art the same way. Progression shouldn't mean that you completely abandon your roots for the sake of appealing to a wider audience or to be the craziest sounding band out there. It should mean that every time you express an idea, it becomes stronger and more realized. Introducing a new idea is something that should take place naturally. I think Intronaut has done that successfully. They still sound like Intronaut, but with a bit more melody.

Melody has always been a part of their sound. Except this time out, it's more tawdry.

I'm a mean guy. I build up a rough exterior to protect my vulnerable inner child that is just afraid of getting hurt.

Let's say, hypothetically, I did undermine his taste. It would still be more relevant to the discussion than his goddamn post count.

I've come to the conclusion that "Above" is Intronaut's best song.

I agree that its a terrific track, but you didn't care for Core Relations? That's one of my favorite tracks on the record, actually.

Sick song! Love this CD still. I was one of those people who thought Valley of Smoke was a weed reference hahaha. Didn't realize the whole cd was about Los Angeles.

Same here, I thought that at first too until I heard the samples on a few of the tracks then realized what that title was referring to.
