Also can't remember reading the rest of this thread or whatever but if anybody (including myself) hasn't mentioned the new Thee Silver Mt. Zion they can get fucked eternally. Internally.

I can't understand how i'm the only person here who thought that black breath was a piece of shit. The Upsides is still definitely my favourite of the year.

The Upsides is still by far the album I've listened to most this year. It's just so goddamn catchy, and despite what people say, I think it's pretty smart for a modern pop-punk album too.

I lost interest a few songs in. Hardcore is generally losing its appeal to me - I'm hoping it's just because there haven't been many good hardcore releases this year, but I guess I'm mainly sick of that brand of hardcore, specifically. You could say Cruel Hand fits into that category as well, but Chris' vocals are what differentiate them, I think.

Anyone heard the new Blacklisted stuff? What the fuck is going on with that band?

I thought it was decent, but I don't think people realize how badly they rip off Entombed. It came on shuffle for me once, and I thought I was listening to something off of Left Hand Path, haha.

Harm's Way, Mindless, Veins, Vile Gash, Raw Nerve, Pollution, Enabler and Mind Eraser all released excellent shit this year just off the top of my head. There's plenty of really good hardcore around. And blacklisted was awesome.

Not a big fan of most of the Youth Attack stuff, but I agree about the Mind Eraser split. New Blackilsted shit is retarded, imo. They're playing pop-punk now? wut

Exactly, they're basically a hardcore band covering Entombed songs. That doesn't need originality, it's perfect.

We have Trap Them for that, and they do it better.

Trap Them sounds like Entombed? Did I miss something? There's a resemblance but that's about where it ends. And the new Bitter End gets a lot better as the record progresses.

I was just being nice to Vuk because I didn't want to post anymore, Trap Them sounds more like His Hero Is Gone+their own sound and they probably have a little bit of Entombed influence. Black Breath actually sounds like Entombed.

Agreed for the most part. And trap them is essentially a more matured version of backstabbers inc above all else.

Trap Them sound like a really strong combination of Converge and Entombed to me, amongst other things. Not trying to demean them by saying they sound like Entombed, I'm just saying why go for an Entombed clone when you can listen to something that is original, yet reminiscent of them?

Trap Them have a similar guitar tone to Entombed, but so did a lot of bands. They're more like later Dismember, a band that was originally inspired by Entombed.

Yep, Left Hand Path and Wolverine Blues. They remind me more of the former, but whatever.

Reason: it's boring. Every song sounds the same and the album is a nonstop wash of standard issue prepackaged anger. This is true for 99% of hardcore albums, Bitter End just nicely falls into the genre standard.

I don't think I've given End of A Year a listen yet - I thought I did, but I somehow confused them with Bitter End lol. What are they like sound-wise?

Pretty much all heavy music is knee deep in latent homo-eroticism.
