Agreed. And while we're at it: TRtR is excellent. This and 'Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid' are likely to be my all time favorites concerning science.

I'm not even done with TRtR yet, it's like a complete physics degree in one book. That and the Feynman lectures are things I always have lying around if the course work is too light (which sadly doesn't happen too often.)

Gödel, Escher, Bach is amazing as well, good call.

By the way, and sorry this is off-topic, but aren't you a biologist of some sort?

I'm looking for some really solid Epic Sci-Fi stuff, like Space Opera-y.

Anyone have recommendations?

Nah. I'm working on my degree in physics right now.

And I'm also not finished with TRtR, but it already got me to take a course on manifolds and differential forms.

Vernor Vinge - A Deepness in the Sky
Vernor Vinge - A Fire Upon the Deep

not really "opera-y", but epic enough with some really cool shit in both of them (ADitS is a prequel to AFutD and nowhere near as epic, but still a highly recommended reading)

Was that before or after we made hot and sexy love? Because afterwards I was kinda bushed.

On Topic:
Right now I'm reading some Haruki Murakami stuff. Can't be bothered to look up the english title, but I can recommend his work to anyone who likes to read some dreamlike but not too heavy stuff.

I'm loving the FUCK out of Ender's Game.

They're all really good? Cause if this continues, I'll be looking into the rest.

well, only Ender's Shadow comes close to the awesomeness of Game, imho (mainly because it's really similar). the rest are quite good, but not that essential (imho, of course)

I just read that virtually all of his work printed in English has been edited down 15-20% (estimations) from the original Japanese. (Apparently against the wishes of the translators and Murakami himself)

That's not what I was saying though. I have no idea if I'd enjoy that book or not. I was asking whether he believed that stuff or liked the author for a different reason. I ask questions so that I can understand why someone enjoys something I might not.

The Speaker for the Dead is really really good too. The next two are just OK, all the characters start to hate each other and it gets really annoying, plus the author keeps throwing in new sci-fi stuff every chapter. It gets out of hand. I haven't read any of the spin offs, but I've heard Ender's Shadow is good.

Ordered Speaker for the Dead today, cause I finished Ender's Game and loved the fuck out of it.

Now onto:

So far it's pretty heavy as far as the tech goes, but I have a feeling I'm gonna dig it...

Just finished reading

What a good fucking read. I haven't had a good read like this over the past few years, probably cause I've been too lazy. It just amazing me how Chuck has the most interesting way of going about telling a story.

But yeah, that inspired me to go get Diary and Lullaby by Chuck. I was in the library looking for those two books, when out of nowhere, this popped up:

Heard great things, so I figured, why not?
