I don't see much of a change needed.

I'd like to see more harmonizing of vocals, a wee bit more soft parts to let you breathe... and maybe a drum solo?

More cohesiveness and keeping it simple. Less of this playing bluegrass and shit just to mix stuff up...I'd also like to hear a BTBAM album without a single sweep to be found. Take it back to their roots, yanno? I doubt I'd be that interested in it though.

I don't think that'll happen. I don't mind some of it but a couple of their songs in Alaska were practically structured around one of P4wlz finger diddlys.

I realize some of it is sweeping just for the sake of sweeping, but it blends well with the structure of their solos.

As far as discussion goes. Pawl made it painfully obvious in the LG interview that what they do is based purely on their own choices and interests, which -as you said- would be best left in their hands anyway.

BUT, I think it would be cool to hear some good ole' Prayer for Cleansing guitar match ups and more mid song time sig changes instead of these silly polka/bluegrass/wtf?s - although I thought the accordion progression/interlude in Prequel to the Sequel was pretty fat. I'd definitely like to see the song2song flow as done in colors in their next one too.

I don't know though, I wouldn't be entirely unhappy if they just developed their sound with their interests. - I was a little thrown back at the direction they took with Colors, but I now celebrate it as one of my favorite albums.

Bands have to evolve with their interests, otherwise they get bored and their music gets boring.
