Can't Sleep Album Reviews
I can't sleep, and decided to do some music listening tonight because of it. The results:
Melechesh - The Epigenesis Pretty good, but Emissaries is still their best. I think the album is just too long and lacks the novelty that Emissaries had. Opeth - Heritage Still disappointing. It feels like a bunch of jazz-rock wankery. Still not sure what Akerfeldt was trying to accomplish here. Opeth - Watershed I think everyone underrates this album and should give it another listen. Let's face it, nothing will ever top Blackwater Park, but this album is great. If you don't like any of Opeth's albums after Blackwater Park, you'll still hate Watershed. But, to those of us who enjoy Deliverance and Ghost Reveries, Watershed is just as good. |

Ehh, I dunno about Watershed. Some of those transitions are worse than nails on a chalkboard, really just ruins the whole song. Ghost Reveries has some daring transitions, but they act within the scheme of the song, rather than just makin' some other stuff happen.

Watershed did have some remarkably bad transitions, but I don't like to let those things ruin a good album. The Lotus Eater and Hessian Peel are epic as fuck.

c'mon heritage is awesome. everyone on here seems to not enjoy it. i think mikael accomplished exactly what he wanted to. write an album in the style of stuff that he was influenced by. i think it's a great album.
as for watershed, what oleg said. some of the ideas that they start with are cool, but then the transitions just ruin it. and what is melechesh like? |

I've only heard Sphynx, and that was a while ago, but it's pretty good.

Sphynx wasn't bad at all. I think I grew out of it though because I deleted it the other day. The production was shotty and I can't stand Proscriptor's voice.
