Ive got a bad feeling
That this may very well be the last of Suffoaction. I just get the feeling that between touring, the shitty bands they gotta tour with and probably not making much money over all for their efforts I think they might be getting tired of it. I hope I'm wrong..the music will live on forever.

New album was on the billboard, I think they're still in good shape.
Plus, I really hope we get one good death metal tour supporting Blood Oath. |

indeed that the music will live on ........
The good thing about "shitty band touring" is that suffo gets new fans, some like of my slipnot/cradle of filth fan friends The Trois Riviere death fest is an example . They say that this is the most brutal/extrem metal show they have ever seen/heard. They still talk about it some time to time at work , and getting new ppl into the bands music with the CD's they got at the show.... Last edited by Brin; 01-28-2010 at 10:32 PM.. |

I'm not sure about that, really. Being direct support for a band like Devildriver exposes them to a lot of new people. I don't get the feeling they've compromised at all, they're doing their best to continue playing and hopefully get their music to the fans.

Well, the deal with Nuclear Blast Records and the great first week sales of the "Blood Oath" album certainly help Suffocation in getting proper means to promote their music on a global scale and market.
However, most of the record/touring industry don't offer Suffocation what they rightfully deserve, focusing on the hot-band-of-the-week instead of the established pillars/cornerstone bands of this genre. Mike Smith (drums) is always very vocal of this in interviews, I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to hang it up after the touring cycle for this record. Anyways, maybe I'm reading too much into it all, but after 20 years of recording, touring and generally working their collective asses off, I too would stop going against the grain, and in that sense I could understand the band's decision if they did. |

well, IMO if suffocation depended on selling albums or worried about what shity band they tour with to continue what they do, they would have quit like forever ago... Having that said the music speaks for itself and it isn't mainstream is it? so, now ask yourself again... is Suffocation gonna quit? Hell no, why? the music is down right honest goodness of the people who created it and I see no slowing down, they enjoy doing this for themselves foremost and for us fans and people to like it as well... that's an added bonus... All Hail The Mighty Suffocation

But... There is only so much, five 40+ dudes can take, touring 'hard' ( ie: cheap hotels, crap food and vans) def would wear you out. Especially after 20 years.
I just hope for one more GOOD tour with decent bands before they pull the pin... take a bunch of good dm bands around the world and blast it out. Then quit. |

There's rumors of the death metal board that Suffocation are breaking up too.
Hopefully this is not true. |

It probably is true, I wouldn't be too surprised. When asked about a new album in a thread somewhere on this forum, Mike Smith (drums, Blastfamus) answered "chances are slim". They had a good run, did some good tours and travelled the world. Bowing out this way would be most respectful.

Well, if their record label Nuclear Blast, would give them a great tour, all these rumors would stop.Suffocation is a headlining act, they should never ever open for anyone.Bands should open for them, they paid their dues.Opening for Devildriver! Are you kidding,if that was the only way, to make some cash,ok I can see why.I know Death Metal bands, dont get paid worth a squirt of piss.I wish record lables, would stand behind their BEST bands, why sign them, if your gonna pay them peanuts.
