Nader Sadek

I sincerely apologize in advance if there already was a thread made about this guy but I just wanted to find out what the big fucking deal is with him??? I figured since he's putting on a free show of sorts here in NY later tonight and so a friend of mine and I are considering going just for the hell of it. Yet after watching some youtube clips and reading some interviews of his, I'm like, "Who the fuck takes this clown that seriously?" That said I'm wondering how he managed to con Flo Mournier, Steve Tucker, etc. into making such asses of themselves by taking part in this? So... thoughts.. ??

SLIT YOUR GUTZ 11-20-2011 05:20 AM

He's an artist that hired a death metal supergroup. That's it really.

And who cares, the album is sick, that's all that matters. Go see it.

Hmm.. well, since it's absolutely 'free' of course I am going to attend regardless, haha.. I figure even if I wasn't impressed then at least it didn't cost me anything.

Anyway I only asked about this dude because from some of the interviews I've read with him, he just seems a bit egotistical, like he thinks his shit doesn't stink or something..

A funny side story to boot.. a good female friend of mine happens to know him very well. She's also Egyptian born and bred like he is and so she made contact with him to conduct an interview for her site over which they bonded very well. Long story short, after some months of correspondence supposedly he sends her some money with a message saying he hoped she would come visit him and if she did, he would hope that she would allow him to cheat on his girlfriend with her... hahaha.. what class!

flayedandskinned 11-20-2011 05:32 AM

That should go public so his girlfriend finds out, Haha lols will insue.

LOL! Dude.. it's so funny you say that because the day she told me that story and how awkward she felt by his forwardness and such, I told her that she should have trolled him a bit by getting him to send her cock pics. This way she could of really embarrassed the fuck out of him if she wanted.

pooptastik 11-20-2011 10:37 AM

Hey Rob! see ya there tonight!

i dont know why the band is named after him but all i know is the music is awesome and would love to see Steve Tucker again!

And, this is what the new Morbid Angel should've sounded like. The album is killer!

strychnine 11-20-2011 12:24 PM

Will probably be there with my dad, haha.

If you see a dude in a Demilich shirt feel free to say whats up.

Indeed I was pleasantly surprised by how stellar the performance was earlier tonight and that said, if this dude manages to convince these gentlemen to compose more music in the future then I'd gladly support it! And whoever said that this is what the new Morbid Angel should have sounded like is totally dead on! I agree!

Btw, what the fuck was up with that fist fight that went down at the show?? Further was I the only one a bit annoyed seeing those retards constantly getting up onstage for attention? I was kinda glad to see one of them get his lights punched out.. hahaha

Oleg 11-21-2011 12:54 PM

I had to miss this in order to drive someone to the hospital, but whatever. At least it was filmed, I'll definitely be on the lookout for footage.

Upon entering the space, The Audience is invited to view all of Sadek's works on and off the stage, each attendee will be given "pamphlet" describing the evenings 3 acts. People can expect more than several props which are recognizable from Sadek's recent videos, such as glowing sulfuric crystals, caves, thrones, and a "elaborate setup for the drums." The show will feature a lengthy overture by a masked surprise female vocalist performing inside a mirrored cube, guitarists enveloped by a web of vines and more. Part Opera, Part Art installation. And All Metal. Conceptually, the theme behind the album, will manifest itself in the live setting, petroleum, man's greatest discovery and tragedy will embrace the composition of the visual and aural assault. This is a minimal description of what is to ensue on stage during the live slaughter of IN THE LIVING FLESH, which will finally bring Sadek's concept behind his new album to life. The performance will also be filmed live.

Show starting at 7 sharp? Nope, 8:40
Wagnerian Opera? Nope.
Audience was NOT Invited up on stage
Pamphlets? None.
3 Acts? Show was only 25 / 30 minutes
Whole album played in its entirety? Ha, 5 songs.
Elaborate set up for the drums? Oh Flo's back is facing us is elaborate? Didn't know that
Masked Female Vocalist? Yes...dunno who the fuck the lady was...
The Lady inside a mirrored cube? Uh...nope.
Guitarists enveloped in web of vines and more? Nope.
Bunch of drunk spics up on stage throwing the horns and pushing the guitarist and bassist out of the way? Yup.
Steve Tucker's wig kept falling off? Yup, and the old fucking lady had to fix it for him at one point.
Steve Tucker on a throne? Sadly, yes. gay.
Nader Sadek behind the band headbanging? Yes. gay.

I felt like I witnessed an egotistical artist take advantage of 4 awesome musicians. Dude didn't write any lyrics or music, but its his concept...WOoooowoOOoooOooOooOOo....I had both my fucking pinkies way up for this "art performance."

I think getting vomited on naked is far higher art than what I witnessed.

Judging by the press release that is exactly what you saw

Sculpy 11-22-2011 01:07 AM

Sounds like a bona fide con artist to me.

Amen! Further let it be said that this Nader character of sorts is more like a con man than an artist if you ask me! While I can't deny that enjoyed the music from the album for obviously these are very talented musicians indeed. Yet I can't help but feel a bit embarrassed for them due to possibly being taken for a ride by whatever crap this dude spewed to get these gentlemen to take him that seriously. Yet if these dudes were to collaborate and write more music surely I'd support it.. yeah just because the musicians are that good. Yet I would definitely say that if nothing else I'd call it a death metal "supergroup" nothing more, nothing less..

As for the artistic visual side of it.. well, I've seen more artistic merit in the late GG Allen's tossing of feces and attacking the audience with it than this quasi intellectual's high school art project.

Oh and for the record, I was told that by day Nader pays his rent by dealing pot. You be the judge of that!

Mol 11-22-2011 05:18 AM

hey Robinator, let's talk about porn :D

Wow, that sounds like quite a letdown. Was there any mention or announcement that a bunch of the stuff mentioned in the press release wasn't actually a part of the show?

To elaborate here.. basically Flo's drum kit was literally in front of the stage at audience level thus running the risk of a drunken idiot or two touching/messing with it if they wanted to with Flo playing the drums with his back facing us.. yeah, I knew it wouldn't make much sense to you either, lol..

Oleg 11-22-2011 03:35 PM

Did you see any filming equipment? I'm curious if they documented this letdown.

Could have been:

"@gregordziadek Oh! It will be filmed, so you can check the Nader Sadek channel in a couple of weeks after the event.

I agree the whole Nadek Sadek "concept" thing is pretty stupid, but I must say, his visual addition to Mayhem's performance at MDF 2009 really turned their performance from something that sounded like shit to something slightly enjoyable.

So I was initially more or less stoked on his involvement in this project but I guess he failed at his job and made a joke of a good band (the opposite of what he pulled off with Mayhem, turning shitty hasbeens into something entertaining to watch.)

Well, I did see some dude video taping the spectacle with a video camera at the back of the club. Yet funny enough I knew this guy couldn't have been a professional photographer or film maker or whatever because the dude filming it happens to be a regular at all the metal shows I go to and he's some burn out black metal head from New Jersey.. that's it really.

quartertone 11-23-2011 03:02 AM

He did some pretty good artwork for the CD though.

However, from the video, it did sound pretty fucking awesome, the way flo was positioned was dumb.

It's painful to watch Steve readjust his wig every few seconds. They shouldn't have had to wear wigs.

And although that must have been awkward as fuck for Flo, it was probably sweet to be the people right behind him watching him play.
