anyone got the tab for the solo from scepter of jaar-gilon?

brett 02-04-2006 08:15 AM

^i wish! i had a go at it a while ago and could only get a certain number of notes in each bar. its too hard to hear with the vocals, etc. ill give it another crack tomorrow.

ps. Dave. remember how you said you'd get joe to tab out some songs. well, maybe he could do this one...

Does he still want to do that thing we've talked about?

Cloaca 02-16-2006 04:32 AM

Merchants Of Deceit avaliable now. You know where to find it....

I am also going right over The Colour Of Sleep again, I have found a lot of mistakes in the first minute already. Stay tuned...

brett 02-16-2006 05:13 AM

wow, you got the cd today and have already tabbed a song? top tab once again. from my limited listens of the new cd, it sounds like you've got your work cut out for you this time.

Cloaca 02-16-2006 08:44 AM

Haha, totally. Damn Joe and his beastly guitar abilities!

Coulda fooled me. Although it's probably been almost a year since I looked at it.

brett 02-24-2006 06:40 AM

did you put up the corrected colour of sleep tab? i cant be bothered getting it and checking for changes with the old one...

Cloaca 02-24-2006 12:29 PM

Nah, haven't gone all the way through it yet. Been busy as fuck recently.

Spew 02-26-2006 08:23 PM

I wonder why.

brett 04-25-2006 12:12 AM

Cloaca 06-06-2006 05:53 AM

yes... i hit a bump with the timing. i spent a bit on it and couldnt figure it out. maybe you could help. :D also the last riff where he uses 4th chords. im not good at figuring out those chords.

heres what ive got so far (guitar pro tab)

thanks for the new tab too!

edit: i know you're a power tab man, so ive included a midi of my tab for you to import. however, when trying to import it with my pt program, i noticed that if there was a slide in the song, it would not import the notes that you slide to (bars 6,14,22 will sound weird), and that all the fingerings are different (and worse). Ill fix a power tab tab up later if you want those parts.

Cloaca 06-06-2006 09:59 AM

It's all good, I have guitar pro, I just like powertab heaps more. Your tab seems pretty good man, there are a fair few rhythmic bugs in it I think but you know that already. Since it's pretty much a finished tab I'll see what I can do for ya.... it will be in powertab though (I fucking hate using guitar pro!).

brett 06-07-2006 12:00 AM

The riff at 1:07 (bar 31 in tab) is in 4/4 timing; tap your foot along and you get 4 beats in each bar (with triplets; 3 notes per beat).

Then at 1:17 (bar 34) it continues the same riff, but changes to a 3/4 timing feel, not missing any notes in the change. but tapping along to the song, the 6 on the A string sounds like its at the start of the bar, where previously a 0 on the E started a bar! (i hope that made sense). It drove me crazy!

the riff that starts at 3:29 (bars 95) is the one that i think has 4ths in it. Hard for me too.

Cleansing A Misguided Path is now up at the Rivers Of Gore.

brett 06-13-2006 04:44 AM

^ thanks! what an extremely accurate tab. however at bars 19 and 111 it says that guitar 2 is playing two different parts, confusing guitar pro when i import it from goddamn powertab :D haha dont worry its no problem. thanks again.

Cloaca 06-13-2006 07:35 AM

Probably GP reading the harmonics as octave harmonies or something? I got heaps of that when I imported the midi of your Repairing GP to Powertab. I'm slowly going through it at the moment just checking riffs and stuff, but I agree on most of it, nice work dude. I've also done a fair bit of Our Evolutionary Architecture at this stage, hopefully I can finish that one soon.

Also (if you give a shit), I've done a couple of vids of the last two Psycro songs I tabbed, unfortuneately my guitar came out pretty fucking quiet in them (I think my camera was a bit close to the speakers) but oh well, shit happens.

really nice job on the videos pal. i actually got the merchants and missionaries videos off your site a few days ago, hadnt seen the latest one yet. i found some parts to be helpful. and that riff at 2:48 in cleansing a misguided path; man, im struggling to get it clean atm. you seemed to handle it fine :emot-woot

one thing: watching joe play merchants of deceit, he actually does a tapped harmonic at fret 20 (holding fret 8) at the start of the song, instead of playing a 10 on the g.

with guitar pro, whats happening is that on your pt tab there is a multitrack part, where it says that gtr 1 and 2 plays something and gtr 2 (which should say guitar 3) plays something else at the same time. so guitar pro has tried to put both sections into the same bar on the guitar 2 track. like i said it doesnt really matter though.

brett 06-13-2006 09:06 AM

ill probably start another tab soon. once holidays start or if i find i have my school work thats due done before friday (very unlikely).

Cloaca 06-13-2006 10:04 AM

Yeah that riff in "Cleansing.." takes some practice, heh. I know about the thing in Merchants but I did that one a while ago, before I saw him play it live. Thanks anyway.

I've already made a bit of a start on Minions: The Fallen as well, so perhaps if you're going to start one you'd want to do An Experiment In Transience? I haven't done much on Minions though, so it's totally up to you.

Ok ill give An Experiment In Transience a shot.

In my tab for repairing.. youve probably noticed the rough job of the 2nd guitar for the riff that starts at 52s. I wasnt really sure on that part, it could just be delay on one guitar (probably not though).

and sorry to bring this up again, but did you get what i was talking about with the multitrack thingy? im an idiot at explaining things so ill use a screenshot.

Cloaca 07-09-2006 08:53 AM

I've given my old Lacertine Forest powertab a good going over, and fixed up many little mistakes and rhythmical innacuracies, plus adding palm mute symbols etc. It's up at ROG if you're interested.

Don't worry brett I haven't forgotten about Symbols. It's just hard to be motivated to do this shit all the time....

brett 07-10-2006 01:37 AM

no worries i know what its like. experiment in transience will be done soon.
