Preferably stuff that's not on Primetime.

Good writing, interesting characters and / or plot is what I'm looking for. Funny, thought provoking, "scary," suspenseful. Anything..

Not sure if this is "cheesy" British humor or something, but I loved every episode and haven't laughed so often watching a show in a long time. Too bad it was only 2 seasons. Any of you in the UK know this show? or know any others with some of the cast members or director?

Personally, I'm a fan of Weeds and Nip/tuck, those are really the only shows I follow religiously nowadays.

Nip/Tuck is awesome. Can't wait for season 6, it'll be the final one. Supposedly it'll end at 100 episodes and it is a split season again like season 5.

Yeah I've been reading up on all the past press releases, I'm pretty content with this season being the last one. Shits gotten pretty crazy, I don't really think it can go on anymore, Weeds is only contracted to go until season 6, I hope the writers wise up and do the same thing. I believe its next Wednesday that the new season starts. Cannot fucking wait.

Weeds is pretty bad now, up until and including the 3rd season is pretty good.

Never seen Weeds but as far as N/T goes I agree. I liked season 4 and upon re-watching season 5 it was good, minus Colleen Rose..well..until the payoff for that anyways.

My theory as to why its ending..Matt can't be tortured anymore. They have run out of ideas. Matt has been in a teenage threesome, got a VD from a fluffgirl, nearly killed a girl, dated a tranny, dated a nazi, cut someones dick off, married a pornstar, got scammed by the church of scientology, become a meth addict, nearly died, fallen in love with and got rejected by a burn victim and fucked his own sister.

What else can they do to him?

Yeah I feel the same way, it has gotten to a kinda soap opera status. I liked the introduction of Colleen Rose, she was a mysterious new character who fucked up a lot of shit, added drama to the show where it was going in a weird direction.

Nip Tuck is terrible.

Finally checked out The Office the other night. Hysterical. New episodes of Curb are awesome. So glad that show is back. I hear Fringe is good, but I haven't bothered with it yet. Carnivale was a pretty good show too.

AD was awesome, might rewatch all of the seasons.

Weeds was cool, seems it's dragging a bit, though. Watch all the episodes on "On Demand."

Californication is fucking awesome, love it.

New show "Bored to Death" on "On Demand" as well, seems ok, has Zach Galifankasnas in it.

Only saw a few episodes of Nip/Tuck, and I think it was about one of the main characters being in a porno or something.. or some sort of video I don't know. Saw an episode where one of the surgeons made this lady look like a cat, as well.

The Wire is probably the best show I've ever seen in my life.

Sons of Anarchy. its like the sopranos on motorcycles.

Information can be easily retrieved on this internet. Delocated is a faux-documentary by Williams Street about a Family who are 'delocated' to New York from their family home after the mafia threatens the husbands life, and the whole thing is documented. The all have to hide behind balaclavas and their voices are altered. Its more lol than my above descrip would indicate. Arrested Development I wouldve assumed you'd have heard of by now (edit just saw you have) - One of the best comedies of the last decade. And Deadwood is one of the best dramas made in the last decade after The Wire, it goes beyond description

i hated it at first actually. but i watched a few episodes and damn. such a bad ass show. and the story is actually really good too. the last 4-5 episodes of the first season are pure gold.

It is impossible for me to stop saying this, everything else just pales in comparison.

Nonetheless, have been watching:

South Park
House (I'm a medic-in-training okay..)
Lie To Me (the realistic aspects of the show are interesting)
Hell's Kitchen (because it's like seeing people face off with a possessed satanic walnut - unbeatable)

Oh and I've watched Green Wing, some scenes are positively sidesplitting. Especially the guy on the DVD cover (name dodges me at the moment).

If we're including stuff that's run its course:

The Wire (seconded) - Amazing drama that deconstructs the various law enforcement, political, street gang, media, educational and organized crime elements that combine to shape the city of Baltimore. Possibly the best show I've ever seen.

Deadwood - Unconventional western drama that follows the evolution of Deadwood in the Dakota Territories from its start as a mining camp to a more functional (or dysfunctional) town.

Underbelly

Dunno if this aired outside of Australia and New Zealand. Both seasons are based on real events. Season 1 is based on a series of murders from 1995-2004 called the Melbourne Gangland Killings, Season 2 is a prequel and is based on the Heroin trade and police corruption in Australia from 1976-1984.

Really gritty/realistic.

Should be able to find it to download easy enough. Amazon has the second deason on DVD but it's stupid-expensive cuz it's an import.

More like thirded! It definitely is the best, no question about it. I'm going to re-watch the whole series in a couple of weeks.

Dexter- bloddsplatter specialist for the miami police department is actually the notorious serial killer "the bay harbor butcher" who only kills bad people like other killers, pedophiles, etc. Show is fucking awesome, thats all you need to know. Lots of twists and turns and flashbacks to his childhood are great. It's funny too. great show. Best show on TV.

oh yea, and he has battles with other serial killers!! how cool is that?

Seen a few episodes of The Shied, was pretty cool.

i recommend entourage for some good laughs my nigga. been real caught up on that series lately. jeremy piven's (ari gold) character is hilarious. super witty, sharp, and aggressive. he's like a real life epic troll basically.

but yea, show is about an A list actor who moves to hollywood with his homies. lots of hilarious stuff happens to them while they're there (they beat the shit out of seth green and his crew this one episode), and they run into all sorts of celebs throughout the series. makes me lol pretty hard

marlon, dunno if you've ever seen Twin Peaks, but i think you'd like it. old news to a lot of people, but i'm surprised by how many haven't seen it/heard of it. it was the precursor to LOST, northern exposure, and basically any show on TV with a movie budget and movie production values. David Lynch.

i rarely find a newer show that i like, and that show Rome on HBO was actually pretty awesome. i thought a show about rome would be boring as fuck, but it's brutally violent, full of perverted sex, and intelligently written, what more could you want?

Yeah I've noticed all of the shows I've gotten really into (Nip/Tuck, Weeds, others) have been filled with perverted sexual themes, Nip/Tuck essentially is a show about sex, and sometimes I think weeds has more to do with perverted sex than weed.

Also, Hell's Kitchen is the only reality TV show on that I think is worth watching. I don't completely keep up with it, but I can watch it every now and then, I have a feeling its obviously staged though.

GOOD EATS W/ ALTON BROWN

The Unit (only the first 3 seasons): pretty decent series about Delta Force (one of the founders is a consultant/producer for the first 3 seasons. the 4th is pretty much "24")

Ultimate Force (only first 2 seasons): same as above, but focused on the SAS.

Generation Kill: best show about Iraq. no contest

Rome: well... duh? ;)

Odyssey 5: best SF show of the last 5 years. too bad it was cancelled (but the creator said he'll finish it one way or the other sooner or later)

How I Met Your Mother: hilarious new-ish sitcom (or so my roommate says :))

Jericho: decent post-apocalyptic drama. could've been much better if they focused more on the "survival" part, rather than the silly "conspiracy theories"

The 4400: imagine "Heroes" without the retardedness (but a lower budget)

Better Off Ted: funny show about the R&D division of a multinational company (with awesome ads)

a couple that should be good, although i haven't watched 'em yet:
How Not to Live Your Life (british sitcom), Total Recall 2070 (SF), The Tudors (the life and wives of Henry VIII :P), Jeremiah (post-apocalyptic drama), Durham County (drama/thriller), Tripping the Rift (supposedly, this like South Park + Futurama)

if you watch LOST from start to finish, and actually pay attention, you will never think any other show is remotely good
