Yeah I've noticed all of the shows I've gotten really into (Nip/Tuck, Weeds, others) have been filled with perverted sexual themes, Nip/Tuck essentially is a show about sex, and sometimes I think weeds has more to do with perverted sex than weed.
Also, Hell's Kitchen is the only reality TV show on that I think is worth watching. I don't completely keep up with it, but I can watch it every now and then, I have a feeling its obviously staged though. |
GOOD EATS W/ ALTON BROWN

The Unit (only the first 3 seasons): pretty decent series about Delta Force (one of the founders is a consultant/producer for the first 3 seasons. the 4th is pretty much "24")
Ultimate Force (only first 2 seasons): same as above, but focused on the SAS. Generation Kill: best show about Iraq. no contest Rome: well... duh? ;) Odyssey 5: best SF show of the last 5 years. too bad it was cancelled (but the creator said he'll finish it one way or the other sooner or later) How I Met Your Mother: hilarious new-ish sitcom (or so my roommate says :)) Jericho: decent post-apocalyptic drama. could've been much better if they focused more on the "survival" part, rather than the silly "conspiracy theories" The 4400: imagine "Heroes" without the retardedness (but a lower budget) Better Off Ted: funny show about the R&D division of a multinational company (with awesome ads) a couple that should be good, although i haven't watched 'em yet: How Not to Live Your Life (british sitcom), Total Recall 2070 (SF), The Tudors (the life and wives of Henry VIII :P), Jeremiah (post-apocalyptic drama), Durham County (drama/thriller), Tripping the Rift (supposedly, this like South Park + Futurama) |
The Office (original)
Peep Show - fuckin funny as fuck. possibly my favourite show |
|
if you watch LOST from start to finish, and actually pay attention, you will never think any other show is remotely good

MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000 - Greatest show ever made
Seinfeld British Office First 3 seasons of the American Office Seen about 10 episodes of The Wire, need to watch more. Those are the only shows I've ever watched. MST3K is incredible though. |
Prison Break was great, I would watch it allll the time. I missed a couple of episodes from the last 2 seasons(can't believe they kept it goin!) and once i miss a few I stop watching. First season I'm sure is still THE best, I loved the shit out of it. The twists!

Besides a lot of stuff that's already been mentioned like Curb, LOST and The Office, these are some shows I dig:
-Chuck (NBC, new eps in March) -Mad Men (currently in season 3 on AMC) -Big Bang Theory (pretty clever, as far as sitcoms go) -Fringe (I think I remember you saying you watch this though) -Eastbound & Down (HBO) -Community (NBC) -Glee (it's pretty shameful that I even watch it, because it's about the gayest show ever, but there's something really endearing about it) Older/ended series: -Firefly -Twin Peaks (the eps that David Lynch directed, at least) -The Larry Sanders Show -Lucky Louie -The Wire (best show ever, IMO) -The Corner (a miniseries that was sort of a precursor to The Wire) -Generation Kill -Pushing Daisies I used to love Weeds and It's Always Sunny too, but I've lost interest lately because they mostly suck. |
if u do try and watch twin peaks, make sure to only see season 1

Without doing that (but I am actually planning to), i sincerely doubt this. 1) The X-Files crushes all 2) ^^That'll do really haha But seriously, i'm sure it's great, but it hardly covers all bases I mean, it's not a comedy. Therefore, people will always need Seinfeld haha Fuck Seinfeld rules so hard. |

totally forgot about Twin Peaks. That's the answer to your question.

i'm a nut when it comes to tv and i've watched nearly every critically acclaimed series out there from start to finish with the help of tivo. basically, the good shows worth watching are on hbo, showtime, fx, or amc. there are pretty much no network shows worth watching outside of Lost. many of the network shows get ruined by the networks themselves by changing writers, pushing for more seasons for ad revenue when a show is far past its prime, etc. Twin Peaks is one of the greatest shows ever but god only knows what it could have been without ABC making the writers/directors go in certain directions.
absolute must watch from beginning to end, please keep in mind it may take 3-4 episodes to really get into many of these shows but they will suck you in. dramas - the wire (start to finish the best show ever) - the shield - twin peaks (the first season may possibly be the best ever, gets a bit soap opera-ish in season 2 but still brilliant) - the sopranos mad men, breaking bad, dexter are all great and on currently...in treatment, though it was recently canceled by hbo comedies: trailer park boys, the office UK (us version is pathetic after season 2), summer heights high, extras, strangers with candy, californication, entourage (goes way downhill after season 2) |
Twin Peaks is good, but the second half of season two is complete shit if I remember correctly.
