The Film Thread---Movies you recently watched
There's a game thread, but no movie goes

Post stuff you've just seen (good or bad) with a short review
Coming Soon
Great Thai horror. Fun, fast paced, gory.

Wasn't expecting much, but loved it. Escapism! This is my new Indiana Jones. More to come for sure.

Vadge 12-30-2009 11:32 AM

Over the last few weeks I've watched:

Extract (Mike Judge) - Cannot recommend highly enough
Where The Wild Things Are (Spike Jones) - Pretty Adorable adaptation
Trailer Park Boys : Countdown To Liquor Day - A LOT better than I thought it would be considering, actually very funny, a must for TPB Fans
Mesrine : L'instinct De mort - Everyone has to see both parts of this fucking classic
Harry Brown
Worlds Greatest Dad - Mentioned both a few times, definitely should be watched

Thanks for this, d/l now.

Vincent Cassel is always great.....

Check this out if you haven't already

Vadge 12-30-2009 12:24 PM

Haha Yeah I saw a few years ago, mixed reception but I rather enjoyed its quirky yet fucked up angle. You shant be disappointed by the Mesrine Two-Parter.

A ridiculously bad action/sci-fi movie from 1990. The school system is failing. Therefore they create cyborg teachers. How ever, the teachers go too far and starts killing students. Quite entertaining. Malcolm McDowel and Pam Grier occupy some roles.

Rob Lowe is an upcoming hockey player. So basically Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze plays brutal hockey in Ontario. Funny if you like hockey and 80's movies.

Hong Kong action/martial arts/comedy staring Sammo Hung. If you enjoy 80's Jackie Chan and Yuen Biao stuff this is good fun.

One of the worst martial arts movies I have seen. Virtually every scene of the movie is hilarious.

Good thing about these older movies is that you can often watch them in HQ on youtube. Otherwise it would take some time and effort to get access to these movies.

Saldiac 12-30-2009 02:13 PM

Good to see more people are finally picking up on "The cove".

I would rather fart on a mirror and quickly draw pictures in the fart-steam for 95 minutes than see that shit.

i saw avatar last night and thought it was stupid as fuck.

the whole movie was predictable from the first 20 minutes, the political messages were stupid, the dumb native smurfs were corny. the only good thing about the movie was the graphics in imax, if i hadnt seen it in 3d i would have been bored to tears

Drag me to hell - meh

Vadge 12-31-2009 02:27 PM

Seriously. I respect the attention to nostalgia but its one big build-up to nothing

Was full of jews, wasn't very funny, kinda sad actually. I'd recommend it if you were bored out of your mind and didnt have anything else to watch.

I started watching this, it was ok, got stoned halfway through, didn't pay much attention after that, but the parts I did, they were like w.e. It was a stupid movie.

Szadou 01-02-2010 05:01 PM

Shit I saw these past few weeks:

New Moon - best unintentional comedy of the year
500 Days of Summer - decent, Angels in the Outfield lololololol
The Bad Lieutenat: Port of Call New Orleans - iguanawesome. Cage's bird might be a hair or the other way 'round, but who cares, this rules. Also crackpipe jokes.
Zombieland - hilarious
Extract - dude from Arrested Development bangs Meg, lol
Le Petit Nicolas - watchable, the insanely good looking CGI 50's Paris makes up for all the boring shit
Inglorious Basterds - Til Schweiger > Brad Pitt
World's Greatest Dad - really good

GrindYourMind 01-02-2010 05:05 PM

Kill Bill 1 and 2
Sweeney Todd.

Hunter Drugs-Hendrix 01-02-2010 05:07 PM

Fun little "Who's the killer" movie ..suspenseful at first..then ridiculous

Just rewatched this...One of the best this year.... by the director of Oldboy

My buddy kept bugging me to watch this....glad I did. This is the new exploitation. Incredibly violent, bloody, stupid, over the top, un-PC, and best of all FUN!! Will be a cult film. Bonus---- soundtrack by Mike Patton!!! Give it a try.

Once Ordained 01-02-2010 05:11 PM

Went and saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie today, thought it was really good, highly recommended

Szadou 01-02-2010 05:23 PM

Both Cranks are pure, 100% undiluted fun. Love 'em.

gourmetanthropophagy 01-02-2010 06:00 PM

Haha Crank is the best, turn on a Jason Statham movie and you know it's going to be over the top.

gurrmuff 01-02-2010 06:14 PM

Pretty good... original to say the least... I'd recommend it

Hunter Drugs-Hendrix 01-02-2010 06:23 PM
The Girl Who Played with Fire
Not as good as the first of the trilogy (The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo) but still excellent Swede thriller. Must see the first one to have a clue whats going on.
