hey people! So just to start, how long have you guys been playing bass? And out of curiosity, what made you get into such an unappreciated instrument in such an unappreciated genre?

That's a question i can't answer exactly. It was possibly because i'd see everyone playing guitar, and i felt like trying something diferent, and the bass guitar felt nice. Back then i wasn't really a heavy metal fan already. I was playing the bass but i felt like it's only role was to complete the band... Steve Harris showed me the whole being a bassist thing. That was when i started learning how to play the bass with my fingers and this kind of stuff. First song i learned wich made me feel like a bassist was Black Dog, by Led Zeppelin haha!

I started playing like a year ago. I picked one up because everyone else was playing the guitar, and I can't sing or play drums.

That's 100% honesty. I'm bad but the first song I learned to play was Living After Midnight-Judas Priest.

That`s pretty much why many people get into bass, very similar to how I got into it. When I was in high school and wanted to make a band with my friends, we always had these "youll play the bass" discussions (typical) and I ended up actually liking the fact but dont know why. I think it just looker cooler, felt more comfortable i dont know but i found it a lot more fun than guitar. One of the bassists that made me want to get into it was Fear Factory`s Christian (who ironically now plays guitar) because of the look and all, but it was people like steve harris and Steve Digorgio that made me feel bassists can actually be looked at and not be seen as just "completing the sound" but as actually giving a different rythm and feel to the songs

Yeah, most of the times it happens because you are def. looking for something diferent man.

P.S. the biggest group, cool! gotta be careful with the dicksuckers rehab though, knowing the people here that group can get pretty big in no time!

I started on guitar but picked up a bass to join a band. Haven't put it down since. There is just something about making the room shake.
