i was wondering if anyone here listens to decapitated, if so, have you heard the new album yet?
just wanted to say that i think its a shame that the whole decapitated sound has changed and, especialy, the vocals are far from what they used to be..i miss sauron:. but ohwell, the three albums they have are now precious nostaligia..heheh

I don`t really like this new one either, the music is good enough, but I think the vocals kills it. Its a shame too, as covan actually is capable of doing pretty cool vocals, but instead he goes for some hardcore approache.

yeah exactly. when i saw them live with covan, he did a good job.
if my memory serves me right, i remember vald doing some shreeks too. though it was still in the range of acceptabillity, ofcourse:)

Decapitated definately has precision, I like them for that, but do they have a really technical album? I've been reading reviews and most of em say it's either Winds Of Creation, Nihility, or The Negation..I know WoC is probably gonna take the cake at the album to buy...but between Nihility and The Negation, which of those is the most technical?
And about their new stuff, I liked some of what I heard out of all of their songs, I really only liked about 2 songs from it..but nothing as good as some of what I have heard from Nihility.

well, i sat down for this one. Winds of creation is a really good album with nice guitar solos, a bit of old-skool touches, i think i like it the most, but dont know, because Nihility is in my opinion the most technical album, its not like necrophagist, but is definitely more technical than the other two with fast riff changing and stuff like that. The negation is somewhere in between, its still good, but not als cool as woc or nihility

I don't like the new album for anything. Eh, Winds of Creation was their best to date. I wish they would've kept that style. Ah well... and as for the Negation or Nihility, being more technical, it's Nihility by far, the Negation is creeping towards the regular death metal that Decapitated used to stray away from.

Yeah, the vocals suck! I can't stand them. Too bad, since Decap was one of my favourite bands.

I got the new Decapitated album. It is taking me a while to get used to those vocals, but so far the album is growing on me.

why would they change their sound like that..
are they trying to show off some technicality?
is it the influence of the new band members?
is it the record label pressurising the band to sell more albums by making it less brutal?
....
covan is a million times better live.

I LOVED Winds of creation. The Negation is boring as fuck, and I haven't heard Nihility.
I don't really like what I've heard of the new album.

Niether Do I. The only song I like from it is A Poem About an Old Prison Man.

I like it a lot but I am a fan of Meshuggah.
I did really enjoy Sauron's vocals but I think the change they have taken is a good one. Covan's vocals on this album are good.. definately not hardcore vocals as most people say though.

Noone can replace Sauron in Decapitated! He had this unique fucking vocals that made the sound of Decapitated.
The last opus is realy great, but I have to admit that these new vocals piss me off

Winds of Creation and Nihility are pretty similar in my opinion, they both have lot's of blasting, start stop riffing, solos, dark Erik Rutan type riffs. The Negation was definitely the average style, there were a couple good songs, but they cut the technicality in half for that album.
The new one I haven't really tried to get into it, it isn't worth my time with all the new death metal coming out, Dim Mak, Anata, Psycroptic..and plenty of other stuff from other genres.

Well, the new Decapitated album is instrumentaly great..but the vocal kinda suck.
This new album with Sauron would be damn killer!
my god. Harald, I have to shake you by the hand...
Stumbled back across this BRT forum just now after an absence of a number of months, only to find someone to so aptly synopsise exactly what I thought of 'Organic Hallucinosis'.
I used to defend Decapitated so passionately in front of those of my friends who disliked them, but it took me at least four or five efforts to even get through the first 2 songs without succombing to the urge to turn it off in utter disgust.
I'm not against bands evolving in the slightest, but why do they have to tamper with something quite so much to the point of demolishing something that I'd argue wasn't broke to begin with.
I anticipate the next Decapitated album with have Vitek performing an accordion solo.

I especialy like the bit Vitek playing accordion.
Though speaking this way about a band which had all the ingredients to be superb makes me kind of feel bad. Though the fact they have replaced a vital ingredient with something spoiled makes it less bad.
About bands evolving, how about that new deicide. That santola guy sure kicks hoffmans ass. Though hoffman wasnt bad at all, Santola and Owen aswell showed that there can be more to it. Its like deicide grew out from the oldskoolness and joined Vital Remains in their ... Utter Supremacy in death metal.

i dont see why that should be classified as "wicked"
i never acknowliged meshuggah as a death metal band, nor a band which has influences on the death metal scene. But thats just my opinion.
Technically, the album is al right. But not to my taste.

I haven't heard the new one... I would have bought it before now but i've only been able to find the dual disc version of it, and I HATE DD. 2 of my 3 CD playing devices don't recognise the audio side of a dual disc, and that's just unacceptable.
I really don't like Decapitated much anymore... WoC was their best material, but even that was an inconsistent album. As for technicality, WoC is the most accomplished definitely. Nihility was much slower, which, with a similar riffing style, I see as being less technical. The Negation was just unmitigated garbage. I can't even sit through the whole thing anymore.
Decapitated. BAH.
