The Viking! ha ha
I don't get it!
:bonk:
Not much to get - It would be cool if he could come out for MFTB one year, thats all. Bit of a contrast to the Church bar!
The Metal for the Brain web site - will be updated shortly! disregard last years info untill then. will post a thread when done.

How was the gig in Melbourne on Friday?
As good as Sydney? :emot-wors
The Melbourne show was great, The Tote is a bit run down but the sound for the other bands was cool. Playing was a bit of a struggle as we had Swany doing lights and he went nuts with the strobe making it kind of hard to see and play - would have looked cool I recon. Our van got busted into within an hour of leaving it outside the venue - The only thing missing were Nicko's Picture mags! we were warned about it, shit happens. Pretty good night all round!

Well at least they didn't take any of your other stuff!
How was the gig in Melbourne on Friday?
As good as Sydney? :emot-wors
Thanx for asking, Danfly! I was wondering that myself.
The Melbourne show was great
Congratulations!
But to be honest with you: I didn't expect to settle for less! ;-)
The Tote is a bit run down but the sound for the other bands was cool.
Does this mean your own sound sucked?
Playing was a bit of a struggle as we had Swany doing lights and he went nuts with the strobe making it kind of hard to see and play - would have looked cool I recon.
Are there any pictures of that?
Our van got busted into within an hour of leaving it outside the venue
Oh shit! Did they catch that asshole, yet? How severly damaged did your van get?
The only thing missing were Nicko's Picture mags!
Well, I'm very sorry about that loss for Nick.
But hey, all that really sounds strange! Were they rare collector's editions or what?
we were warned about it, shit happens.
How come you were warned about it? And how come you didn't have The Viking :-) or someone else prevent it if you were warned?!
Well, I'm glad you guys weren't attacked or injured!
Ahh it's not as bad as it sounds, the hire van we had did not have a catch on on the windows, we all knew it was a risk so we took everything out of it. Nick's Picture mags (tityy mags) were stolen and he's still shattered by his loss - ha ha. He'll get over it! The sound for us was fine at the Tote Mick. Not sure if there are any pix. Will collect them from the tour and put them on the site sometime.

Here's a mixed bag of artists I would like, which I also think are diverse enough to pull a pretty decent crowd and not too many repeat acts from last year. I've seen a handful of them enough to not be too fussed if they don't appear, but they're worth mentioning. Bold = essential.
Abramelin
Alarum
Backyard Mortuary
Battalion
Black Majesty
Cauldron Black Ram
Dawn Of Azazel
Destruktor
Denouncement Pyre
diSEMBOWELMENT (....)
Forn Valdyrheim
The Furor
Gospel Of The Horns
Hobbs Angel Of Death
Infernal Method
Kania
Kill For Satan
LORD
Misery
Mortal Sin
One Step Beyond
Oracle Of The Void
Pathogen
Portal
Psycroptic
Ruins
Shallow Grave
Stargazer
Transcending Mortality
Vanishing Point
Vespers Descent
...and an international band who happen to be touring at the time.
EDIT: UPDATED FEB 2006 DUE TO BAND BREAK-UPS.
After reading the new interviews with Adam I remembered the sad cause behind the festival again and recognized even better the driving force that ALCHEMIST has been in this regard for so many years now. I think your work in this regard alone is awesome! Many festival organizers don't do anything else anymore and still deliver a horrible result. So I pull off my hat in deep respect for you guys!
By the way, I think a more detailed sub-site at www.metalforthebrain.com would be helpful in preventing this from falling into oblivion. E.g., I'd like to know more about the "painful chain of events" - as you called it on www.metalforthebrain.com/2005/history.htm - that ended in the severe injuries of Alec Hurley, the aftermath of this attack (Were those brawlers caught and convicted? Not that it'd have changed anything, unfortunately, I'd just like to know.), how all this made Joel Green from Armoured Angel start MFTB, and how you ended up taking this responsibility.
On a lighter note: ROY, I LOVE the new logo / picture at www.metalforthebrain.com/ (http://www.metalforthebrain.com/)!!!

I was just wondering...are Alchemist fans of Blood Duster? I've noticed that usually every year Blood Duster play at MFTB and are also at the top of Alchemist's Australian band links.
Yes we are sort of freinds , sort of rivals , its hard to deny that they are entertaining ,, and I guess that we have to show respect to the band as our album sales are very similar even though fuller is gay, the rest of the band are straight. :grenade:

Cool man, I've met the band a couple of times and they seemed to be alright guys...they also headlined my old band's first and only show when I was younger - the band was called Abuse and was more of a fun then serious band but fell through because most of the members weren't dedicated enough. Blood Duster have also played in my home town and around that area, the last I heard was that they released a DVD, went overseas to tour and played at the Big Day Out in 2004 which from what I've read Burton C. Bell from Fear Factory enjoyed seeing.

Sweet, thanks guys. By the way Head Hammer from western Sydney should go to MFTB as well
Yes, Head Hammer is another band that would be great for this festival. They are getting more tight, heavier and brutal every time I see them and they blend the swedish death and american death really well. I don't know too many other bands doing it like they are over here. The EP is awesome as well.
Would be great if they get put on the bill, but who knows. Hopefully they will.

I have a request.
Could you PLEASE but Ne Obliviscaris in the line up for MFTB?!
These guys are proof of what Melbourne Musicians can do.
Their music is EPIC.
Not including them would be a loss to the festival.
Please consider them.
Performing at MFTB would give them the exposure they really need; these guys CAN go all the way; they just need to get the credit they deserve.
It would mean the world to them, truly.
Cheers;
~ Casey.

Wow... thanks so much to all those who have been supporting our music! We are amazed at how quickly people have taken to our unique brand of metal, and very appreciative of the support we are receiving. Obviously, we would love the opportunity to play MFTB, so hopefully something comes of it.. :)
www.myspace.com/neobliviscaris
two three minute samples from 12 minute songs. but better than nothing.
Due to overwhelming demand we have decided to post up full length versions of a couple of our rehearsal demos on our myspace site. One being the song 'Forget Not' (12 minutes in length) which was recorded late last year shortly after writing the song. (This song is more melodic/progressive than much of our other material.)
The other is 'Upon the Tongue of Eloquence' (9 min), which was recorded live during rehearsal on April 23rd, 2006. This recording is without vocals, although from 3:30-8:00 the song is instrumental anyways. So it is only the opening and closing sections that lose something...
These songs were not recorded professionally in a studio, and so are limited in quality, but hopefully they will be enough to give you a taste of what we're doing before we head into studio sometime in the coming months.
Thanks again for all the support.

OK, I'll put my hand up for
'THE RED SHORE'
I've heard their new CD, 'SALVAGING WHAT'S LEFT' and it's pretty brutal stuff. They also opened for 'BLEEDING THROUGH' in Melbourne last week, so somebody here must have caught them! Damo told me the audience wasn't that receptive to them, but they sold heaps of T shirts and CD's after their set, so they obviously appealed to a lot of people.
Besides, Damo's my sort-of step-son...
(Roy, he's sending you a copy of the CD.)
Peace, Glen.
sorry but wheres all the girls in metal?
black like vengence.......
moredhel.......
i mean both those bands are ripping it with occularis and psycroptic.
its turning into a cock fest where the only time girls really capable of doing anything at a metal event lately, is go drool over the guys in the bands...BORING, i say let the girls step it up!
PyroVesten
06-10-2006, 03:25 AM
The problem is that so few girls are in metal bands in the first place. They're not intentionally being left out, it's just that in terms of numbers, if 30 bands play, odd are at most, one or two of them will feature a female member. The most notable band I can think of othe than Daysend who play very frequently is Tourettes and they're guaranteed to clear out a building in under a minute.
lil_andy
06-10-2006, 03:31 AM
I can only think of one band with chicks in it that are any good. The rest suck balls.
Moredhel are really shit, and it would suck if they played at mftb.
baaahahahahaha ur a smooth man pyro, very smooth...
though its unfortunate alot of MALES dont give us FEMALES a chance. i mean u didnt. u told me only when we released an album,so only by releasing an album are u truely a good band? so instead we got dan swano to mix it for us to show that at least someone in a far away county cares as well as the people in euro chucking us on compilation cds. but that gives no cred to anybody these days. but then again i love this country way too much to leave it! haha
sorry andy not every single band revolves around u and makes sure u like them...
anyways pyro conversating is good, u know where to find me ;P i usually avoid forums for the "opiniated" types. im sure what ever will happen mftb will just be the place i go again this year to hang out with all my mates and talk crap at the bar of how god damn good looking shan from the deadly is.

I heard a rumour that M4TB is being pushed back- if any M4TB staff peruse these forums please reply or make some statemnents relating to this or something. It'd be good to have some contact, cos it'll actually help with promo etc.
I just noticed at: http://www.metalforthebrain.com/ that the date has been changed from September 2 to NOVEMBER 4. So it seems like the rumours you heard were right...

though its unfortunate alot of MALES dont give us FEMALES a chance.
id take anyone, male or female, if they are good enough technically i dont care about much else.
OK sorry about the delay in getting any official info out but it's been kind of manic. First up the date has been pushed back to November 4th - That’s where we originally wanted it, but at the time of booking was unavailable. Now it is 100% locked in for this date. The show has no insurance issues this year and is NOT is danger of being cancelled. Sorry if this caused any inconvenience. We have also moved a more robust server for the hosting of www.metalforthebrain.com and it's associated e-mail accounts. We have had a few problems with e-mails accounts and some messages have been lost. The full website will be uploaded ASAP and things will be a bit clearer. The admin site has been pretty annoying but the actual organising of the show is progressing nicely.
Thanks for everyone’s thoughts and comments for the show! Keep em coming!

dude, the gig is the same day as Post Mortem's Festival of the Dead. from the sounds of it that is some serious competition!

ok, Festival of the Dead have secured NEVERMORE for both the 3rd and 4th of November. Dudes, you better think about moving Metal for the Brain or you will be losing a serious amount of punters.

hmm... If for both days, means punters can see Nevermore one night, come down the night after :p
rumours about skinless for m4tb though...

yes but nevermore are FAR bigger than skinless, and will draw the most punters. regardless of coming down the night after or not, they will still miss a lot of the day bands unless they leave really early in the morning so either way, MFTB is at a loss if it keeps to this date
Well, the scheduling of these Nevermore-shows sucks! Who's responsible for this attack on MFTB? And why are they doing this? Are they just plain stupid and didn't check or do they want to split the scene and destroy the festival?!
By the way: I saw Synthetic Breed at the "With Full Force"-festival this year and while they didn't feel all that convincing to me (I understand this doesn't mean anything since my taste in music is very elitist at best ...) they seemed to be genuinely nice guys so you might want to check them out for MFTB.

Actually, the dates for Festival for the Dead were booked and announced well before MFTB was announced (like several months). But then I doubt the MFTB organisers were aware of how big it was going to be, otherwise they would have chosen a different date in the first place.

the shit thing is most people had heard nothing about festival of the dead UNTIL mftb was moved. If the nevermore touring component was announced earlier (which I understand could well have been impossible) there would be none of this controversy.
No offense to either of the organisers of either festival, but this clash deadset sucks.

Catwitch should play at Metal for the Brain. They are fantastic live, and everyone should get a chance to see them at the festival!

I see the Catwitch 1-post-army is out again.

I see ... I had no idea it was that complicated ... I wonder how this will be resolved! I only hope that in the end this will be accomplished.
By the way, maybe it's only me but I can't seem to find any web site for that festival and it isn't even listed in the tour dates of the official Nevermore web site.

I really like to see Dad They Broke me and Angents of Abhorrence on the bill, that'd be great.

Yeah ... it's a shame.
Does anyone know if there is still one scheduled for Perth again this year then?

Apparently its just staying local, and with the venue hire alone being about 20000, I can understand why.
Metal for the Brain now has it's own forum here at SMN news. Please direct all related discusions to that forum, thanks. http://www.smnnews.com/board/forumdisplay.php?f=245
