Has anyone heard about Pearl's Reference series?? I just recently discovered it in a magazine I got at some drum shop. This looks insane! I can't believe that Pearl actually took the time to do the research on how to obtain the perfect sound and pitch for each size of drum. I am definitely a Pearl fan now. If anyone has anything to add about the series, feel free and share the knowledge with the rest.

There's not really a pefect pitch, the perfect pitch relies on what kind of pitch the drummer want's. Dont put too much emphasis on that.
um, wtf no offense guy's your just discovering this now? these set's have been out since march i think? "Pearl Wins 2 MIPA Awards at the International Music MESSE Show in Frankfurt, Germany".- For the refernce set.
These set's are on heavy backorder wait time i heard is 5-7 months.

Massmusic.net is the best place to buy drums if you live in america at least, ive found everything cheaper here then in stores, most set's i think have free shipping. Andy the guy that does order's for massmusic.net also frequent's the pearl forum. If you email andy with questions from 9-5 he answers within half an hour.

well since you seem to be the Referance guru, youd know the drums ARE the perfect pitch. they are pitch matched.

Yeah, I really don't get out much. I went to go check out the Eliminator pedal at some small drum shop a few weeks ago and this crazy guy who worked there stopped me and threw this magazine at me. I checked it out while I was in the store, and he told me pretty much everything about the new series.
As for the perfect pitch being obtained, I heard that that's what the goal was. They worked and researched for years, combining different amounts of maple, birch, and african mohogany for each type of drum. Their research resulted in the perfect combination of these woods for each size of drum. They also worked with angling of the shells too. With all the work that Pearl did, they believe that they have found the perfect pitch.
I can't really say what the perfect pitch is, or even clerify if there is one. But Pearl worked their asses of on this, so I am definitely gonna take their word for it.
I would like to know what Flo's opinion would be on this, since he uses Pearl's Masterworks series...
