I've just seen that Christian Donaldson of Mythosis will join Cryptopsy on guitar for the upcoming tour, very cool! Can anyone tell me what Mythosis is like. I'm sure Lord Worm, Alex, Eric and Flo would choose the best man for the job. I look forward to hearing from you guys what he's like onstage.
With the utmost respect to other bands, I'm so biased in Cryptopsy's favour that whenever they think a guitarist is good enough, I actually wish they'd lure the dude into joining permanently. You get to play with IMO one of the premier giants in extreme metal and I'm sure you'd get a fair amount of money - it seems that Cryptopsy won in their struggles with Century Media. Yeah that's right, show them the money motherfuckers!
Any of you guys feel the same? Cryptopsy is one of my favourite bands of any genre and I want them at full strength for as long as possible. They deserve to be a complete unit and stop searching for temporary members.
Maybe Lord Worm should perform a ceremony, make Christian eat a worm, then tell him "he's part of the family now" and can never leave, hehe!! :FIREdevil

No, not to start um opposing you veritas but it kinda makes them seem desperate the way you put it. I really cant say i want them to find a guitarist i want jon back. I feel like i lost a girl and shes the onyl one i want LOLOL. If they find a permanent let's hope he can keep up with cryptopsy.

I have to agree, Cryptopsy without jon just seems wrong. Even though they still rule.

Yeah, so many people have said bring Jon and Mike back. Personally, I think Lord Worm is sick as fuck, and the cd's he has been on, fucking destroy. And I would love to see Jon return too, but that's unlikely to happen. Hey, we can wish though. Jon was and still is a genious though. Some of the stuff on None So Vile, I'm like this trying to play it: :emot-eek:

Nice! :saber:
Seriously, I couldn't stand Mike's vocals at all either. You're right, Cryptopsy's music isn't meant for a hardcore singer at all. I like Worm's lyrics too. Genious!
Edit: Wait a tic, that guy said that Whisper Supremecy and "And Then You'll Beg" were better that None So Vile and Blasphemy Made Flesh? Wow, he's a douche bag! None So Vile is one the best Death Metal releases ever. Still to this day, handsdown one of the top 5. Which include: Death - Symbolic, Cryptopsy - None So Vile, Gorguts - Erosion of Sanity, Suffocation - Effigy of the Forgotton, and Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness. There are plenty more great death metal releases, but saying that None So Vile is sub-par to WS and ATYB is downright BLASPHEMY! :1pissed: :grenade:

OK Reinert just so you know, I got my Cryptopsy "spurs" from my bud and metal guru with BMF and of course, Jon Levasseur is THE fucking guitar ubergod!! No jokes, alongside guitarists of all genres I like, I always say Jon's name as my favourite... of course most people are like "who the fuck is that?" Cretins. Such skill, technicality, power and feeling. When I heard he wanted to leave, well my response was :( :emot-cryi Jon had been a constant part of the Cryptopsy writing team since BMF. I like lots of different music and metal, but hypertechnicality alone doesn't make a band stand out. IMO Cryptopsy and Jon especially, kill practically all pretenders as they're fast, technical, brutal and most importantly WRITE FANTASTIC SONGS!!!
Phew, sorry about the rant but I haven't thought about this for a while. Yep, without good songwriting (and what constitutes this varies from genre to genre) fuck off. When Jon left, like that amazing ex you never thought you'd ever replace, I was extremely worried. Cryptopsy would change significantly. Would I be able to see Alex as their number one guitar dude? I respect Jon's decision, wish him all the best and can't wait to check out any of his musical ventures. He'll always be a personal hero of mine. I too would love him to come back. It's not that I want to paint Cryptopsy as desperate. I personally felt that it would be criminally unfair of me to always pine for Jon to return and always think that the band could only work with him there. Never say never, but it seems that Jon has made up his mind. You know how it goes, the David Vincent, Nicke Andersson, Rob Barrett and Jack Owen, the Hoffman brothers scenario: you become a blinkered complaining asshole that constantly bitches "Aw man that band sucks now without him!" or "they haven't been good since so and so left!" Sound familiar?
I feel that attitude negates someone's love of the band; you'll probably wind up shooting yourself in the foot by not giving the new music a chance. It's scary for me waiting here thinking "Man, what's Cryptopsy gonna sound like without Jon?" but it's also exciting to see the band move into new territory. Even if I feel OWN falls short (which is VERY unlikely) compared to past triumphs, Cryptopsy get my vote for trying to use their established strengths to forge new paths. Cryptopsy isn't the kind of band to falter, disregard possible mistakes and alienate their fans *cough Metallica!! cough cough*
Hope that clears up what I meant. I want to give Cryptopsy and Alex a fair chance to fuck everyone up! A few dudes on the old forum said that he ain't as good as Jon. I'm sure he is different; some describe him as a Nevermore-style player. As I've never seen em live and don't know which songs are his, can you describe how his playing differs from Jon? The first solo on NSL "We Bleed" which is Alex's fucking rules!

Thanks Barberic for confirming what I already thought: Alex Auburn shreds!
Unfortunately, the connection who said he'd order the dvd for me (I was gonna give him the cash) dragged his ass, and now it seems that stocks on the website are depleted! FUCK!!! :eck: I would love to get hold of it and see Alex step up to the plate.
I'm really keen to see our Montreal heroes live now! Hmmm, gotta see when I can arrange a trip overseas..

You know i was wondering about that, david vincent wasnt on the last album but i heard he didnt leave and hes with morbid recording and playing shows still. I found this on the matter: http://morbidangel.com/mainindex.html and as for jack my friend told me he talked to him and he said he was leaving and a year later wich happend to be about a month ago i found this: http://www.earache.com/index2.html .
Now regardless of wheatrer jack left, i as i like lord worm the original singer of cryptopsy, also like the original singer of cannibal corpse Chris barnes. I hate the last albums with "corpsegrinder".
http://www.fourteeng.net/deicide.html <<< and i just checked those pictures out wtf where are the hoffman brothers did they really leave without notice? NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Cryptopsy are of no worth without Jon and Mike. LW just doesn't have the chest he used to, sorry for the reality check.

Thank god for vegetarianism, I can thoughtlessly pass on this :) .
Don't get me wrong, I loved NSV and Blasphemy Made Flesh. But after hearing this new album, ehm.. I'll leave it at that.

I'm with Luke...WS and ATYB are superior albums in my opinion....totally different really then the first two which I also enjoy, but my preferences lean towards the more technical, precise, tightly played DM out there and WS and ATYB fit the bill...
And Lord Worm fuckin' sucks now, I didn't like him that much originally but man has he lost it...He sounds like a girl on the new CD. And when I saw them live last year he couldn't come close to his vox on NSV and BMF either, I think getting him back in the band is just a cash grab to raise publicity, because he has no balls nowadays and his "low" vocals aren't even as low as Mike, who wasn't even a remotely low vocalist...

alright,...well I just saw the Cryptsters with Suffo, and make no mistake, though off cue at times, Worm did not fail, and they played incredibly. I will say that I dont think the new guy can really hang at times, and I have a sneaking suspicion that he cannot solo nor write in this vein of music, after listening to Mythosis and seeing his performance...I'd have to say, I know I could have done it better (and I am saying that with sheer honesty and modesty).

Christian is awsome guitarist.. You have to understand that's it's normal that they don't let them play solos and all the thing.. He's there to support them as the SECOND guitarist.
I know him personnaly, he's one of my friend, i saw him shred a lot, do incredible solos etc.. He's very awsome.

Try mine.
Seriously, I wouldn´t try choosing which are better, but WS and ATYB are at least as great as BMF and NSV. I assume you have never really grasped the point of the material.
And as a vocalist, Mike is certainly better. Plus his lyrics are even better than Worm´s.
