Hey man - tell us about it .... what is the production like? Worms vocals .... general things.

Not all of us are as lucky to hear it you know! haha

Reincremation
09-04-2005, 05:38 PM
like lord worm said in the interview with metallian, his current vocal style has more enunciation to it. his vocals are rougher and reach the higher register more often. the production is actually pretty raw. it's not nearly as clean as, say, And Then You'll Beg, but it's still an excellent production job. There's a sample at the start of most songs as well as a few in the middle of some of them. they don't detract from the music, so not to worry.

the music itself is a bit hard to digest. the riffs are off kilter, and it seems to me like there's a gorguts influence. i couldn't tell which songs featured that dude from hatebreed.

as it stands, it's probably my third favorite after NSV and WS...and that's only after one listen! so yes, this is a very strong album, and i'll tell you guys more once i've given it another spin. oh, and so far my favorite track is "Keeping the Cadaver Dogs Busy."

I like three main things you said here.

1. The vocals reach a higher register, maybe there will be more variation like there was on BMF (i already detected some on Carrionshine) opposed to the lack of variation on NSV.

2. Not super-clean production...i dunno i tend to get into albums more if theyre not so damn polished.

3. Gorguts influence! I love Gorguts, but combining them with Cryptopsy would be a pretty amazing act.

Question: If you had to give the album a 1-10 rating, what would it be right now?

i wish it would be better than none so vile, but it's almost impossible... if the artwork is what you guys have said the artwork will get a 10, and if the lyrics are half as good as the titles it will also get a 10....so all thats left is the guitars and drums, and as a guitarist i hope this album is hard as hell to play....

BMF - 8/10
NSV - 10/10
WS - 10/10

Also curious what other albums you guys would give a 10 to that have been released in the past couple years?

Hey reincremation...are there any of those grooves or breakdowns that snuck up every once in a while like on BMF and NSV? I think its that aspect of the band that I miss the most. You know, like the break in slit your guts...the devastating groove that pops up a few times in graves of the fathers...or the opening's to open face surgery and born headless. Those parts added some fuckin sick contrast to the technical riffing and full throttle blasting that dominated most of the songwriting.

A metal buddy and fundi did a net search recently and apparently found that Sylvain Houde is now a dj making dark gabba-like techno!
:dj: = :emot-eek: I'll have to investigate this!
Yep I was bloody chuffed to pick up "Sorcery and The Mystical Gate of Reincarnation' and "Temple of Knowledge" digipaks a while back! Sylvain guesting on a Cryptopsy album would indeed rule. I'd debate whether he destroys Lord Worm though... while both icons in the most-demented-DM-vokills hall of fame, I prefer Lord Worm.

Any Cryptopsy albums is bound to take a few listens to sink in entirely...that's the nature of the beast so to say.
Either way, one tends to like these 'sink-in' albums a hell of a lot more in the long run.

So true. All my favourite albums are ones that didn't absolutely blow me away at first. It's got to the point where sometimes I force myself to listen to a band I don't absolutely love, because there's parts in it that I can see will probably kick my arse after a bit of 'sink-in' time. Then of course, one day, BANG! it all clicks, and you are left with a big cheesy grin on your face.
