You think the double blast beat could be what is known as the grav blast? Check out www.vornagar.com and look at videos, you'll understand.

Gravity blasts are related to the snare btw

And no one has anything to say about the fact that hatebreed's singer is doing backup vocals?

I love cryptopsy and have since the demo, but Ill be approaching this new one with caution... I have faith but I still want to hear it first. I wasnt feeling the last 2, and all this "experimentation" rumors got me a bit bent I must admit

that "double-blast" being referred to goes something like this: flo does the one handed "gravity roll" on the snare (similar to longstreth) while hitting insanely fast between his reg hi-hat and the miniature one that sprouts form the top. So his right hand is gravity blasting away while his left is between the "double stacked hi-hat" alternating between the two as fast as humanly possible. Anyone with the recently released DVD will see him use this technique (albeit for only short periods of time) during his drum solo. It really does sound faster than anything ive personally ever seen...not to mention his kicks are flying at 32nd's the entire time.

Cagedbychrist I understand the concern, I felt the same way. I was particularly worried when I heard that the ubiquitous Mr.Jasta was doing backup vox on the most recent Napalm Death album. Much to my pleasant surprise, he didn't ruin the tracks he was on ("Instruments of Persuasion" and another one I can't remember right now)! Sure there are MANY vocalists that blow his ass out of the water in terms of brutality, but his more straightforward approach produced an interesting contrast to Barney's skull-crushing delivery.

IMO if Cryptopsy had to go for a slightly hardcore-inflected guest vox spot, JR from Pig Destroyer would be excellent! LW and JR dementedly screaming together? I'd buy that for a dollar! ;)

If cryptopsy wanted a hardcore voice to do backups on tracks, they should have dug up HR of bad brains fame, simply because his style is completely insane and full of real anger and emotion...and also because he comes from a respectable, REAL hardcore band. Jasta has the shittiest, most monotone tough guy bark imaginable and his band and everything they stand for disgusts me. Still, the fact of his appearance on the album doesnt dampen my enthusiasm to hear the finished product in the slightest.

like i said, i couldn't even tell what songs jasta was on, but it might have been Cadaver Dogs.
