Met him in at a March show w/ Cattle Decap in Tampa. Just started talking to the dude, cool as hell and funny too. Answered some of my generic questions. Shouted me out right before they played Cold Hate, Warm Blood cause I told him I really wanted to hear it. \m/

Not great, there are a couple local bands, the most recognizable being Unholy Ghost, but I havnt even seen them yet. This one place the Masquerade gets some good shows, but eh, I expected more out of the death metal capital. New York gets all the good shows now.

Caged, I am SO envious!! It's killer that you got to chat to the Lord, who by all accounts seems like an absolute gent. Very cool pic of you two guys together!!

We've had Carcass, Napalm Death, The Haunted and Entombed out here in South Africa, but logistically it's a nightmare to get to... very slim chance that Cryptopsy would make it out here. HINT HINT they really should, Cape Town is a beautiful city to visit, and the metal fans need to be annihilated by the Canadian monstrosity! :)

Damn it, I better just freight my ass over to Montreal to see them...

Hey there Wormshippers, can't wait for Cryptopsy to come to the Netherlands.
I already saw them play a couple of times in Rotterdam, but never with the Worminator.
They haven't been to the Netherlands yet sinds he rejoined the band.
Really looking forward to live sewer pipe emissions!!!!!!!!!!!

i've taken up residence in boston, which does indeed get a ton of quality bands. on the other hand, i miss most of them because my parents dislike driving me to shows. i guess teenage kids have the same troubles everywhere! my parents like to joke about moving back, because they know that i would hate it, what with music and shows being hard to find and all. actually, how difficult is it to find metal CD's over there? i remember seeing very few of them in CD stores last time i visited, and of course the prices were high. do you download most of your music?

Yes indeed finding quality (particularly brutal) metal in Cape Town is like squeezing blood from a rock! :bang: It's something I have to work on, but I'm quite behind when it comes to technological piracy. For that, I used to rely on my best bud and metal mentor who sadly is in the UK for the next year! I promised to pay him a visit and check out some gigs. As one of the ultimate metalheads, he's cool as he's extremely open-minded and would inform me of great underground sounds in addition to my liking indie, jazz, electronic, country etc.

Most of the time I try to research the metal that sounds like my cup of tea, flagon of ale or skull of blood, and then place an overseas order. It's more reliable and frankly cheaper, as whenever overseas metal turns up here you get fucked as it's ridiculously overpriced! :analsex: I mostly use overseas connections to get select items, as you just gotta have certain albums on original, y'know? Obviously, the big one for this year is "Once Was Not!" Bummer is that there are like about 4 people here that will a) know what Cryptopsy is and b) not be complete utter dicks.

Right I gotta get back to work... one of the main reasons I can't live on any board 24-7, for better or worse. Just wanna say, nice chatting to an SA expat that digs Cryptopsy, and great work with this forum!! I'll check in whenever I can... keep the news coming and keep rocking!! :hbang32en

I met him backstage when I played with Cryptopsy last April. He seemed really nice, but also very strange in a way.

I would love to meet him.
It sucks living in australia coz none of the decent metal bands actually get here, we got a good metal scene but basically no biggish metal bands come here. And i live in Adelaide, which is one of the main cities bands always miss when they come on tour here....fuckin melbourne...lol.
