View Full Version : my New CDs
HaHa: the Board ate this thread last time: :)
I just got Massemord Obscura Symhonia today and have heard it a grand total of ONCE.
It's like unto other good two man projects in this genre, eg Potentiam, Maniac Butcher and the last long track, the most striking one at first listen, is much like Burzum.
Now I'm waiting to get the $$ to order Shining I and then a Summoning ( what's the best??) and then perhaps 1349. Are they any good? Which one of theirs to get first?
Y'all got any new stuff?

SHINING I is fuckin' great, absolutely recommendable. But I think Summoning haven't recorded anything special since Lugburz, try that one if you want to check them out. Last Cd I bought is Viking Crown- Banished Rhythmic Hate and it`s fucking great if you like long gloomy synthie passages between raw puristic BM songs.
Would have laughed if someone had told me the Pantera guy could make cool music...

Well I was a little surprised already cos Summoning doesn't really seem to fit...
you could also try Dark Storm, they're even a bit better than maniac butcher imo... but technically better!
and if you like Shining I, Try S. III as well, I've heard somewhere Hellhammer did the drumming, but haven't listened to it yet...
Yeah,HH is the drummer, quite unobtrusive, on the excellent Shining III Angst.

I've been getting Mortiis cds recently.....love it.
Does anyone know of any depressive black metal that's good?
similar to Nargaroth's geliebte?
'http://www.trolleve.com/ -- killer website showcasing Viking/Folk/Black/Death and other European Metal !!!'
A labor-of-love Site, indeed, with some nice MP3 and Video dl's.
I'm getting a Fntroll Live In Barcelona audio right now
They have Thyrfing as well.
This'll gimme a chance to check out a sub-genre I don't listen to that much.

You might try every work by Abyssic Hate and the albums "Hünengrab Im Herbst" and "Srontgorrth" by Nagelfar (not to be mistaken with the swedish band which spells "Naglfar"), these get me in a depressive mood quite similar to the mood i experience when i listen to Nargaroth.

Does anyone know about this band from Sweden called Black Dawn? I heard a couple little clips and it sounded pretty decent. I think the name of the album is "Blood for Satan".

Kult Ov Azazel-Oculus Infernum
Impaled Nazarene-Absence of War does not mean Peace
By the way, do you guys think that the albums after Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk are worth getting?
Of course: IX is quite good, not symphonic Black (alas) but very well done metal.
Prometheus is lyrically his ( it's essentially a solo project with his former bandmates as session men) most mature work and conceptually also a success. Musically adventureous and varied, with perhaps a tad too much Death influence on the 2nd half's slow songs it gets spun fairly often around chez Carl. Modern symphonic operatic metal like Arcturus,Winds but better.

Thanks I'll look into those bands, but love Abyssic Hate (Found them on the No Colours website)....only just found out they were aussies! crazy!
I got:
Marduk - Live in Germania (and a bootleg vid of one of the shows it was recorded from)
Marilyn Manson - Sweeat Dreams and Lunchbox Singles
Nargaroth - Rasluka Part 1
What's a good Carpathian Forest cd, anyone?
I've got Nattefrost's CD which is fucking cool :D and would like to hear his oother stuff (CF)

Just about all the Carpathian Forest albums are pretty good, but the thing I don't like about them is they have a bunch of slow songs/keyboard tracks in between songs and I have to skip them because they are so boring. Defending the Throne of Evil (the new one) I think is the best. Better production, better songs, and less of that slow song/keyboard track nonsense. Another album by them I like is Strange Old Brew, but that has like only 20 minutes of good music and the rest is...well...you know.
New cd: Ragnarok's Blackdoor Miracle. Features the singer of Taake on it. Very good stuff, but the album cover is absolutely retarded. There is a band member holding a gun and there is fire around him. What ever happened to swords and other sharp weapons?

Shining II and Potentiam Orka I Myrkri came in my mail today.
I'm making salsa from my garden and listening to them.
