PT Editor is the best song writing tool I've ever used! It's so rad to see that song "And Time Begins" all close up and tabbed out. If you haven't downloaded this program yet, I suggest you do it. It's awsome, It's like the revolution in learning, writing, and comprehending guitar compositions.

It's really complicated for me to learn, well actually it's probably not, it's just that I am really impatient with programs like this. My favorite program to use is Guitar Pro 4. Anyone ever try it?

Ya, I haven't completely understood how to use it yet, but all you gotta do is listen to the words of Playstation's, PARAPA DA RAPPA... "You gotta believe!" hahaha... also, jesus is a fucking two bit cunt scalliwag and his mom was a 5dollar Ocean St. hooker...hahaha.

PT editor IS awesome. - dinky little sounds and all... in terms of a writing tool... Hey... you know if it sounds good on PT, it will blow away mountains when recorded for real.

I like to write harmony heavy phrases and PT editor is perfect for that, much more emidiate than trying things out with a 4 track or something, and you can change any part, whereas if you were using the 4 track and wanted to alter track 1, you'd basically have to start all over again.

not to mention, I tend to write music like a skater, in that I'm always trying to push things to the edge of my playing ability, or beyond... But for multitracking, it's touch to 4 track your practices without sounding like total shit... especially when you're playing a difficult riff you just made up and haven't really practiced the shit out of. With PT - you coe up with it and it plays it perfect, and you can hear if it's working right then.

Then arrangement... You can try different versions of the same song, export them as a midi and just listen with some objectivity and throw phrases around again.

It does have that quirk tho' that if you try and paste a phrase above another, the program crashes, you always gotta paste it below... at least it does that to me... ???

If I ever put out a little underground DM cd, Brad Larson's ( I think that's his name..??) getting a big fat thanks.

What's cool in GP4 is you can add the drums to give you an idea. Plus I prefer the interface, I find it easier to use. But when printed it looks like total bullshit : Powertabs is just perfect for that.
So I use Guitar Pro to works on compositions or tabbed songs, then I transcribe the whole shit on Powertab to print nice tabs.

Good idea, and good combination. I prefer Guitar Pro 4 for the interface.

"Have you tried Guitar Pro 4?"

~No I haven't, but PT works just fine for me and instead of an intermediate phase, I'd just go to recording the real thing.

In a way getting yet another arangment tool, might just slow me down... But maybe I'll give it a shot with some side-stuff... Just for kicks.

Re-transcribing all my songs would be too major.

PTE works off a font, oddly enough. Make sure the font is in the proper 'windows font directory' - If you've installed PTE on a 2nd hard drive, that might have wigged it out. - Also, make sure PTE is pointing to a functional synthesizer (usually a ghetto defualt windows synth.) PTE - is like more sequencers, simply a pointer, that tells something esle "hey! play these notes for me, at these imparticual moments."

You might just uninstall, wipe any traces of it and re-install from scratch. - and just let it install where it wants to on your C drive.
(I know, I know, I like to keep all non-microsoft wares on my D drive too, but PTE is worth sacrificing that standard.
