mondo medicale vs. death after life

before i say this, let me say that impaled is my favorite death metal band. they are perfection. mondo medicale to me is on the same level as dark side of the moon or sgt pepper.

that said, i was very disapointed with death after life. i think the opening was kinda lame. then the first song seemed a bit mediocre. and the whole album isn't as crisp sounding as mondo medicale. it's kinda muddy. now the rest of the songs are great, the skits were pretty good (not incredible but still good) and the last closing track was really awsome.

so to me, mondo medicale, will still be the only cd in my cd player, and death after life will enter every now and then, along with dementia rex. and the patients are revolting is my fav song.


p.s. if any impaled member read this, please confirm this. to others, check this out. the opening and closing tracks or mondo medicale, i think were origanaly the same track! play them next to each other, they fit perfectly.

I was a bit dissapointed with the mix on the new album at first, but when you dig through the thick and chewy production there's some really good shit in there. Mondo Medicale remains my favorite metal album ever, but I've been seriously annoying my co-workers with the new album this week in the process of "absorbing" it. Delicious work, good sirs.

I actually agree with that last post. Sure, all the albums are great, but for some reason Dead Shall Dead Remain will have a place in my heart. Brutalness with melody, gotta lurv it.

And I just think Death After Life is better than Mondo Medicale. Probably because of some of the riffing being... different... than Mondo. I wish I could explain how, but I'm a dumbass and can't.

I disagree. Mondo Medicale is better than Death after life. The reason? The mixing and the songwritting. The mixing is not the best, the guitars sound muddy and the drums sound weird. About the songwritting, ¨Death after life¨ doesn't have really great songs as the Choice cuts or We belong dead CDs have. Also, the general soloing in the last CD is nothing compared to their last albums... What I'm trying to say is that Mondo medicale was so great that the next one can't get the same musical level (lyrics, songwritting, riffing, soloing).
