What are the albums you're listening to mostly recently? Like, the last couple of days, week?

Mine:

- System Of A Down - Mezmerize (<== now playing)
- lots of Porcupine Tree
- Sentenced - The Funeral Album

The Funeral Album is amazing, I'm going to miss Sentenced.

I've been listening to:

The Project Hate - Hate, Dominate, Congregate, Eliminate
Bathory - Nordland I
Paradise Lost - Symbol of Life
Stratovarius - Stratovarius
VnV Nation - Empires
Cage - Movies for the Blind

I was on a sudden Paradise Lost wave Tuesday night :). I just got a mood for the Gothic album (I bought the vinyl on the Wâldrock festival last weekend) and also played my Harmony Breaks VHS tape, feckin' great!

I'm not really into their stuff after One Second (which itself ain't all that great..), but the last album sounded like they're somewhat on the right track again.

I like all of their stuff. Draconian Times and Gothic are probably my favorites. But Symbol of Life was a great cd. They were better as a doom metal band though.

I'm a big fan of Paradise Lost's first 5 albums, really some of the best stuff I own. Draconian Times, Icon, Shades Of God, Gothic, all frickin' awesome albums. Lost Paradise ain't all that bad either, though technically inferior of course, it has atmosphere.

NP: Soilwork - Figure Number Five

I'm unfortunately missing most of Paradise Lost's doom/death metal stuff. :( So I've only heard Gothic.

Yeah, it's hard to find those kind of cds in america because they're really not distributed at all. So I basically just have to deal with downloading all my cds. :( Unless I wanna pay like...$30 for an imported cd, then another $10 for shipping and handling. It gets hard buying cds from bands over there...so alot of the cds I have I just have to download. But I'm slowly buying them when I have money. :)

Also the new Dew-Scented, sorry to say it's the weakest of their Nuclear Blast albums. Still, it's pretty fun to listen to.

I can't truely make up my mind... It's a great album if you like guitar virtuoso type stuff, to me it's only an average AE album... it's hard to top WOS, and in my ears AOR was stronger than this album. It is a good album, but I can't see much of the tracks making it's way into a setlist.

I've felt that way about quite a few albums lately :( I've felt that way about quite a few albums over the last 5 years... I always see/hear people everywhere that mention a list of 15-20 albums each year that they think are totally awesome when I usually even have trouble coming up with just 3 or 4... I guess that when you grow older (blah.. blah..) and have heard more and more music, it simply takes more to really get overwhelmed or blown away, but Opeth was definitely a band I considered capable of doing that.. Maybe it's a grower (Deliverance took a loooooooong time to grow on me), but it'd better start growing fast!

I've heard the album for about 10 times now and it's not a 'grower' to me. It was there al the time, since the first time I heard it! What a GREAT album!!! I especially love the lyrics on this one. Blackwater Park has always been my favourite Opeth album, but Ghost Reveries took over the first place. I don't think I ever played BWP 3 times in a row on the same day...

Ghost of Perdition, The Baying of the Hounds and The Grand Conjuration are beauties in my opinion. I love the clean vocals and the 'deepness' of the grunts.

So I guess I have to consider it as my new found duty to convince the world of the sheer beauty of this album ;)

I pre-ordered 'Ghost Reveries' on vinyl as soon as I could. Good album. Well worth the price I paid for it (from The End Records) anyway.. but nothing can top 'Still Life'. Overall it could have been quite a bit better, but like I said, worth buying.

Here's what I've been listening to most the past couple of weeks:

Abramelin - Deadspeak
Agalloch - Pale Folklore
Agalloch - The Mantle (Vinyl)
Akercocke - Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone
Arcturus - The Sham Mirrors
Detonation - Portals To Uphobia
Dio - Holy Diver
Edge Of Sanity - The Spectral Sorrows (Vinyl)
Edge Of Sanity - Unorthodox (Vinyl)
Elegeion - The Last Moment
Exodus - Shovel Headed Kill Machine
Kreator - Pleasure To Kill
Melechesh - Sphynx (Vinyl)
Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavor
Pathogen - Bloodline
Portal - Seepia
Psycroptic - The Scepter Of The Ancients
Vanishing Point - In Thought

I have the Ghost Reveries vinyl and CD. Ordered the vinyl right away as well, I have all Opeth albums on vinyl (and CD), except Blackwater Park.. Funny to see that people already bid pretty high amounts of money for the GR vinyl on ebay, when it's still available from many regular outlets..

PyroVesten

People are just ignorant. Just because it's not in their local music shop they think the only place they can find it is on eBay. I see the same thing happen all the time, which is actually why my Opeth vinyl collection consists of:

Morningrise
Morningrise (Double Picture Disc)
Still Life
My Arms, Your Hearse
My Arms, Your Hearse (Double Picture Disc)
Ghost Reveries
Orchid
Orchid (Double Picture Disc)

I'm going to sell the doubles on eBay Australia sometime when I am in need of money.

I've never used eBay to re-sell (only to get rid of secondhand stuff) but if I have the time it will be good to try.

I have all of the Opeth albums on CD as well...but some of them sound bloody unreal on LP. 'Still Life' especially.

It's heavier because the trigger sound is much better. The drum sound on "Serenity In Fire" was way way too clicky for me... had the same problem with Vital Remains' "Dechristianize" actually - fantastic album but a horrible horrible drum sound.
