Hey! God Hates us All is not terrible! It's not nearly as good as the old stuff, though. I'd much rather listen to new Slayer than new Metallica.

The last few slayer albums havent been that bad, I can't see how people can have slipknot guartists as there favourites

Fisting The Dead
05-09-2004, 05:34 PM
Hahaha. Yeah, I don't see how people could list someone from Slipknot as a favorite guitarist either, I just didn't say anything because I didn't want to be rude to that fellow.

There's too many wonderful players for me to have a fave: Stevie Ray Vaughn was actually the best I ever heard live.
I'd like to list some guitarists that impress me as Stylists:
I dunno his name but the main guy who played in Abigor, rip;
It, especially on Dominion;
Infernus with Gorgoroth;
Ishahn;
both of the guys in Nile;
Blasphemer;
and ( hahaha!!) whoever the fuck played that wonderful shit on 666 International.
***I'll post again when I remember the others I like.

Everyone says that Mick Thompson is secretly a good guitarist, and I believed it, but I decided to listen to that "Pulse of the Maggots" song just to give it a chance, and the "solo" in it was that biggest piece if shit I had ever heard. If Mick Thompson is a good guitarist, then what the fuck is Jon from Dissection? A fucking god? Well, actually he is a god anyway, but slipknot and their "guitarists" can fuck off.

Frost

:D :p

Oh deary me!

Dude, you don't have to be some kind of shredding maniac to be a good guitarist. Besides, "old" Metallica is great...they wrote some of the best songs ever written!

I can listen to Slipknot...I admit I don't mind songs like "Sic" or "Eyeless", but in comparison to real Metal, I find it quite boring. Nu Metal as a whole is pretty limited in my opinion.

I'm not a musician, so I can't waffle on about how technical things are, but some of my favourites would be:

Mikael Akerfeldt - Opeth
Euro/ Blasphemer - Mayhem
Ihsahn/ Samoth - Emperor
Peter - Vader
Vogg - Decapitated
Alexi Laiho - Children of Bodom

Alexi Laiho - Children of Bodom

I'm not a big fan of their brand of rock but he was indeed good live.
Slipknot ?? ...for fucksake, JEEsus H. Christ... Slipknot is a silly commercial band of sell out dolts. :)

fav BM players (No order of merit):

Blasphemer (Mayhem)
Kottelin/ Svartz (The Legion)
Morgan S. (Marduk)
Destructor (Myrkskog)
Ihsan/ Samoth (Emperor)
Abbath (Immortal)
Mick Kenney (Anaal Nathrak)

other non-BM players are too many to list...
with regards to Slipknot- Mick Thompson is a guitar teacher, the stuff he plays with the band isn't the true capacity of what he can do.

yes, some of our fav players aren't too technically versed, but they trigger a common reference, enough to make ourselves affiliate with them
:cool:

Murray/Smith/Gers
King/Hannemann
Sanders/Toyler-Wade
Ihsahn
Abbath
Trey Azaghtoth

and a lot more

Hahaha. Well, I think that debating is one thing, but then arguing that includes personal attacks is another which isn't ok. Debating is fine. As for Mick Thomson, I think he's just average. Nothing special.

SLAYER were really cool, I liked them. I'm less of a SLAYER fan now. Kerry did a music video for a pop/punk band called SUM 41. I want to know how this has gone unnoticed. I am a Kerry fan though, jejeje.
