or Melodic Death (Like Arch Enemy or Dark Tranquility ) ?

SFU are crap. CC are fairly good, maybe not their new stuff but their early stuff with Barnes is good. get Eaten Back to Life.

if you like black metal i suggest Dissection, Watain, Burzum, and Darkthrone.

For me, black metal makes up 2 band names. And they're both from the bay area coincidentally. LEVIATHAN and WEAKLING.


Nobody has mentioned DARK METAL yet! My faves are BETHLEHEM(of course), VOID OF SILENCE and SILENCER. Those cannot be beat. You cannot do it. It cannot be tried!!!!! though I will soon with my solo black metal project.


Nortt is pretty awesome and I like Xasthur and what I've heard of Sargeist too... in fact, that and leviathan is all I listen to metal wise anymore....


best BM release ever???? I think it's the Leviathan/Xasthur split... I am in LOVE with that record.

I just got the First Necrogphagist cd.. its fucking awsome..
Also I got Spiral Architect.. im not too keen on the vocals but the drumming and guitar work is.. :O wow insane!
Also I got Cynic - Focus.. thats a great cd.. im in love with that...

There's a band called TWILIGHT that should be coming out soon... one of the guys from Kreig and Nachtmysitum with Xasthur and Leviathan. It's awesome, I got a burn from the nachtmystium dude.

I think most "real" death tends to sound the same.



that being said, I love Death, Nile, and Necrophagist. Berzerker is good (dont know if thats considered death, I'm not big on sub-sub genres and shit. its all metal)
