View Full Version : What ya doin'?

This english speaking forum seems to be pretty dead, so I figured something must be done!! I just don't know what :p So I figured I'd just let you know what I'm doing right now. Yeah, yeah, I know these kind of threads suck. WHATEVER!!!
So...What am I doing right now then?
I'm overlooking my pupils as they work their asses of trying to finish their math books before the summer. Always nice to see them suffer, hahaha :D
End of transmission...beep beep...

Good initiative! The forum is still trying to emerge...and since there isn't much news to tell about the band....
I just arrived here at work, sitting behind my desk right now, and once again I failed trying to actually start doing work, and started surfing the internet right after I came in...
Time for coffee!

So you're even spamming the forums whilst teaching them little innocent kids @ school..? ;-)
Haha, yes, the English forum is quite inactive compared to the Dutch forum, which has 95% of the posts here so far I guess :D. Pretty annoying you can use only 2 images/smileys per post on this forum..
Anyway, I'm also @ work, I should start doing something useful here I guess, but there's only 3 of us (including myself) in the room right now, the rest is getting their knowledge patched up in a crash course 'waardeoverdracht' at the moment :).
Uphobia
05-12-2005, 05:00 AM
Yeah, I thought the course was from 10 to 12...but apperently they started earlier and know I missed it....
MadTinus
05-12-2005, 05:09 AM
Hmm, yeah, everyone except me and another colleague here seem to have applied for this course... Ah well, I'm 'materiedeskundige waardeoverdracht' anyway, so I don't need it ;).
@ Stefan, those Sabbat "Dreamweaver" CD's are all going beyond $50, see here (http://cgi.ebay.nl/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4725538282&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT). Better mail me your address and I'll send you that burn ;).

No pwoblem! :)
You heard the new Deto-samples already? Whatcha think?
Mr. Lapin Kulta
05-12-2005, 05:34 AM
Nope haven't heard them. Generally I try to stay away from samples as not to spoil the surprise when I get the full album you know. Short samples can either wrongfully ruin beforehand or set expectations too high. I wait for the full album and enjoy it all there and then!
MadTinus
05-12-2005, 05:40 AM
I should do that more often with new albums.. It's just that I usually can't resist the temptation ;). But then I just get on DC++ and d/l the full album :).
Mr. Lapin Kulta
05-12-2005, 05:53 AM
Hahaha well that is one way of doing it of course :) Nah, I'm firmly against downloading music. The only times I have downloaded a full album is when, as you say, the temptation has gotten out of control and I KNOW 100% that I will buy the album no matter what...
Also I am lucky enough to know most of my fave bands personally and hence I get the album a couple of months before release anyway :)
MadTinus
05-12-2005, 06:06 AM
The albums I download I also buy, but I download them at the time when they are not yet available for purchase.. If I hear/read about a band that I might be interested in, I download some album(s), if I don't like it, I delete it.
I'm also against downloading/burning albums and not buying them. Apart from the fact that it's hurting the artists, it's also that a CD-R simply doesn't do it for me, I need the original album.
Mr. Lapin Kulta
05-12-2005, 06:09 AM

Well that's the main reason for me too. When the cd first came I had problems getting by without the big (vinyl sized) cover. Over the years I've gotten used to the cd format though and I'm sure as hell not going to be satisfied with a handwritten tracklist :)

Did you catch Detonation live on one of the UK tours we did in 2003?

Just got back from a 5-day trip to Gothenburg. No beer, no concerts...this was a school trip with my pupils...but of course some new cds!
We visited the Liseberg fairground; went to see Star Wars III, played Laserdome etc. A nice trip all in all, but I am dead tired now...

Hey Stefan, sounds like a cool trip!
BTW, I sent your Sabbat CD-R this weekend, it should reach you sometime in the coming days.

Only 8 workdays to go now! Wohoo! Then follows 10 (!!!!) weeks of paid vacation. Being a teacher rules!!! :)
Sadly I don't have a job come autumn but I'll deal with that when the time comes....
Right now my pupils have a break so I'm just sitting in the teacher's lounge chillin'...

Mr. Lapin Kulta
05-30-2005, 06:29 AM
Sadly, there are not many job openings for teachers right now where I live. The last 1,5 years I've had a substitute position for a burnt out teacher. Now my pupils are leaving for the upper level of compulsory school, so they're off to another school and hence I'm not needed anymore. They are cutting back on 4 teaching posts here so I won't be doing as is normally done, i.e. starting anew with a 4th grade class.
I'll work as a temp during the autumn (if i don't get a steady job that is - there is still hope!) and combine that with paternity leave and unemployment benefit funding. This means my "salary" stays on the same level as now, something i am thankful for :)

Most buildings do have airconditioning here though...but you went to Amsterdam, never go there again please, it's not representative for the rest of the Netherlands ;)
If you ever visit our country again come to Utrecht!
Fortunately Tinus and I have climate control here at the office...

Most time of the year airconditioning isn't necessary at all over here, but the climate is obviously changing, so that should change perhaps.
Which makes me wonder: why the f*ck is it still 31 degrees C outside here in Holland when it's 7:55 in the evening!!!! Not funny anymore!

the only reason for the english forum being quiet is the lack of a "Martijn's bragging thread" where he brags about all the new CDs/LPs/DVDs/tshirts he just got...
And currently I'm just getting back from shopping where we've stocked up a bit for our pre - San Fermin stockup. (more info: http://sanfermin.com/2004/portada_new.php?lang=eng )

I haven't really paid attention to any of them... I hear Eldzik going on about the singer leaving Naglfar, and how they'll never be the same (and should just quit), I've never followed Dissection (except when Eldzik mentioned they might need a webmaster, but I thought better after reading up on the history...)
Machine Head I've bought many of their albums (that sound the same) and seen them a few times in concert... but the only good memory of them will be when they opened up for Napalm Death 11 or so years ago
