Introduction to Detonation

[Uphobia]

For those who're unfamiliar with the band, I post this short introduction.

Detonation are a 4-piece Metal band based in Utrecht, Netherlands. The style is aggressive and melodic Death/Thrash, much in the Swedish vein, therefore fans of bands like At The Gates, Dark Tranquillity ("Gothenburg" bands if you will) but also Death will undoubtedly find something of their liking in Detonation's music.

The band has released their full-length debut album "An Epic Defiance" through French label OSMOSE Productions on June 16th, 2003, check out 2 songs on the official website www.detonation.nl (http://www.detonation.nl)

The album can be bought in/from all well-selected stores/mailorders around the world. If you somehow still can't find it, order from the band directly, to do so, go to the Merchandise section of the band's website for details. You can of course also order it directly from Osmose Productions.

The new album "Portals to Uphobia" has been released on September 12th, 2005 and contains 10 brand new heavy tracks.

On this forum you will find me (Koen, username Uphobia) and our "5th bandmember" Martijn Kalksma (MadTinus), who does a shit load of PR and other things for the band and who is also Thomas' brother.

Meanwhile also Otto (Metal Baron) and Thomas (Skinbasher Kaks) have registered to the forum.

Micah, what program do you recommend to make nice (animated) gif banners..? Cause I can Photoshop and make a jpg, but they don't look near as good as gifs.

Tinus, use ImageReady. I think it's part of the standard photoshop installation. Make separate photoshop files of the 'frames' you want to use for the GIF, and then there's an option in ImageReady which allows you to import "Folders as Frames..". The rest is very easy.

If you don't have ImageReady just send the photoshop files to me.

Photoshop has many glitches and small bugs, and most annoyingly does not obey many OSX keyboard shortcuts, neither does it use any of the services available from OSX. Despite that, the possibilities are great and it's quite easy to script as well. Also, many image viewers nowadays can view photoshop documents as well.

yeah, I can open PSDs in Fireworks... there are some really fine things in Photoshop, I just don't have patience to learn how to use it. Fireworks is more basic and immediate... and when you're only really working with web graphics, Photoshop really is overkill.

apparently a lot of Sex to 9 type bands (Scar Symmetry, Dark Suns, possibly Soilwork?) may be playing progpower europe (NL) and we're thinking maybe we'll head up north to check it out in the fall...

ok, after over 7 months of waiting, I took the site header and wacked it into a 468x60 standard banner frame... it's now in rotation on www.divasatanica.com along with a heap of other new ones (most of which are my creations) :D

yeah, I used to have the reworked D somewhere, and the "detonation" text is available on the website in the press section...

you could do a better one than that. My graphic skills are pretty limited... I would add more reworked D and less static background, but hey, that's just me...
