It's about damn time too. He hasn't had his heart in death metal in a long, long, long time, and it really shows in the music.

I dunno what to think.. maybe he's the reason why CC has sucked lately? .. seems like they're just deteriorating more and more tho.. i actually think they should break up.

Well, I bought the wretched spawn.. although it did turn out to be rather boring.. as with gore obsessed. But anyway, on the dvd included with the cd they show a lot of the recording process for the album and he really didn't seem like he was into it.. he actually seemed downright irritated and annoyed with what he was doing. Maybe it was just his mood at the time, but his leaving the band didn't really surprise me after seeing that.

I didn't buy any CD from them since "Vile" except for "The wretched spawn" and I like that album.
Anyway, the bonus-DVD is killer, much better than the Deicide DVD... Suffocation should add such a bonus on their next release, too.
With their new style they remind me much more of Suffocation than of old Cannibal Corpse actually. :)

whats weird is that you could go to some underground fest like the old Ohio Death Fest and there would be Jack walking around, hands full of merch... for not liking death metal, he sure went out and supported it... you didnt see any other luminaries from other higher profile bands at these fests...
best of luck Jack....

I think that Jack leaving the band sucks. I'm a huge fan of the older cannibal corpse but there new stuff isint that great...but with Jack leaving the band its going to be even worse.

Jakcs statement:
"After 15 years with Cannibal Corpse, I've decided to leave the group. My heart just wasn't in it anymore, and it was reflected in my appearance on stage. Times change, and I just don't enjoy the music as much as I used to, and the only thing keeping me in the band was steady work, and the pay. These things makes it unfair to myself, my band members, and especially the fans. I'd like to thank all the members of Cannibal Corpse, past and present, for sharing in the conquest of an entire genre of music. I wish the band continued success...
I would especially like to thank the fans for being there for 15 years. Without you, I wouldn't have made it this far. Your dedication to death metal is unbelievable.
I am going to continue in music, of course, with Adrift. I'd like to thank them for their patience and understanding, and support of my decision. We will meet again, I'm sure..
Cheers,
Jack Owen

Same, they should do a farewell tour and call it quits.
