I have been jamming out to Al Green, Paco DeLucia (one of the nastiest guitarists ever) and Ion Dissonance. But as far as death metal, i have had the new Cephalic Carnage playing non stop for 2 weeks, its fucking genious.

Most DEF! GREAT disc! I thought the follow-up ("Passion, Grace and Fire" I think it was called) was a bit weak though. Then again, compared to FNiSF, just about anything sounds weak.

Admittedly I don't live very much outside of death metal, which is quite blinkered of me, but when I do veer out of it, i tend to listen to:
Godflesh, Red Harvest, a little dark classical (Edvard Grieg, Gustav Holst etc).

If I wasn't so obsessed with metal, I'd be rather tempted to check out bhangra (sp?) as for some reason just the way it all fits together and grooves along appeals to me, plus you can't really say that it sounds like jackshit else out there....

Oh yeah and if my Dad has some Santana on, to my shame I enjoy some of the Latinomeister's finger work...
