View Full Version : Alchemist video clips

Okay, so two video clips are available for download from alchemist.com.au, First Contact and Solarburn.

I was wondering if other clips can be made available for download. I'm not sure what other ones were made, I know Road to Ubar had one but there must be others.

I know hosting is probably an issue, so I offer you a solution :)

http://www.yousendit.com can be used to host files for a week or 25 downloads, whichever happens first. There's no registration, its as simple as sending an email with an attachment. The link for each clip could then be posted here for us to download.

Whaddya say?

A clip for Alpha has just been released in aussie, it will be available on a relapse retro cd for the rest of the world at the end of the year , the cd will contain a cd of early alchemist and aretrospective dvd with all the clips

Has the Alpha clip been played on rage yet? I didn't see it in the last three weeks' playlists. Don't want to miss it, particulalry since Alpha is probably a favourite track from the album.

The alpha clip has not been on rage yet , it was sent to chatterbox so im wondering about it myself , keep an eye out , to help things along you could ask chatterbox at their website.

Hey fishboy,
your post from March 29 was confirmed on the band's website! Way to go, mate!
I'm looking forward to the "Embyronics" -CD / DVD!
When I met the band in Prague last October Rod asked me what features I'd like to see on a future ALCHEMIST-DVD ... and now my dream will come true!
Talking about dreaming: I'd like to see a proper ALCHEMIST-DVD in the future, i.e. a 2-DVD-set (in a limited collector's edition-box with signed plectrums by Roy, John, Adam and a signed drumstick by Rod plus a CD featuring the recordings of the 1987 and 1990 demos, the "Live Demo '94" as well as the 1994 and 1999 promos [Did I forget anything?]) with RC = 0, surround sound, a complete audio commentary by the band, subtitles for the hearing impaired, and animated menus by Roy and Butz. The set should feature new video clips, interviews with the band, producers, etc., live stuff including different camera angles, featurettes on all individual band members (past ones, too!), a documentary on the history of the band, a "making of" of each release, featurettes on the background of each song and video (inspirations, filming locations, equipment used, revealing of secrets such as the alien writing in "First Contact", etc.), photo galleries incl. high res scans of all covers (demos, promos, too), flyers, posters, merchandise, etc., two easter eggs featuring the unreleased songs "Yin Palace" and "Organasm" - and I'd like to be mentioned in the thanx-list! ;) :D
Is that too much for one dream? ;) Well, Thursday will be my birthday and Christmas is coming along as well, so ... :)

Hi Mick,

interesting DVD-set. You probebly need a budget bands like Iron Maiden or Metallica would use for a release like this. The idea is great though
;)

Have a great birthday.

Yeah, right? I mean, you'd buy it, too, wouldn't you? And others as well! Since there's a market for it why not produce it? ;)

Well I think about starting my own sect, you know, with me being the guru of a vast following. And then I'd exploit all these people and finance the DVD-set with that money. What do you think? ;)
Oh and by the way, thanx a lot for your nice wishes on my birthday, CrazyMary & The Viking! Have a cold one on me or something, OK? :D

Happy birthday today Mick.

plus a CD featuring the recordings of the 1987 and 1990 demos, the "Live Demo '94" as well as the 1994 and 1999 promos

I don't know of a 1987 demo, but I could copy demo's '90, '91 (also on the re-issue of 'Jar Of Kingdom'), promo '94 and demo '99 on a tape or MD if you want. I'm afraid I'm not able to burn a cd for you.
As far as I know there was only one demo/promo in 1994, and that's the live promo.

the unreleased songs "Yin Palace" and "Organasm"

Probebly overlooked something, but this doesn't ring a bell. Where were these songs mentioned?

Cheers,
The Viking

Hiya,

the bonus tracks on the re-issue of Jar Of Kingdom are all from demo 91. There is also a 4 track demo 90, a live promo 94, and a 3 track demo 1999.

I heard about the 1987 demo for the frist time when I read the interview here (http://www.hellridemusic.com/bands/a/alchemist_interview.shtml) where Rod said the following: "... demos in '87, '90, '91."
I though this was interesting because he wasn't in the band, yet, then.
This was confirmed here (http://www.alchemist.com.au/html/time90.htm): "Alchemist did ... record a demo prior to 1990."
So I had a closer look around and found the following information here (http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=38088) (Great cover-scan, too, isn't it? But there's an even better one if you start from here (http://www.zenial.nl/html/alchemis.htm)!):
Alchemist - "Eternal Wedlock"
Demo, self published
1987
1. I Am Free
2. Kill For It
3. Just Let Me Die
4. Eternal Wedlock
The term "wedlock" was also used by old school Alchemist-fan Colonel Klink on 08-06-2004 in the "Your first encounter with Alchemist"-thread (http://www.smnnews.com/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17145) so there must be something about it, I think.
I guess Adam and whoever was with him in those days sounded quite different from what we know as ALCHEMIST now but that's what would make it interesting, wouldn't it?

Hey, thanx a lot for this awesome offer! Of course, I knew the "Demo '91"-stuff from the "Jar Of Kingdom"-re-issue and even was able to get it in eBay some time ago but so far the other stuff keeps eluding me ... :(
I don't have an MD-player and my tape recorder sucks ... But what about a three-way-trade? Is there anybody else here that might be willing and able to turn an MD into a CD? Please?!

So "Promo '94" is just another name for the "Live Demo '94"-tape? I didn't know that. thanx a lot for this valuable information!

Hi Mick,

thanks for all the info.

As far as I know, demo 94 is de same as the live 94 tape, and maybe also known as promo 94.

I don't have the 99 3 track at hand (I'm in the office at the moment, and have the cd at home), but I think the tracks you mentioned are on there.

Please drop me a line if something works out for the MD to CD thing.

What are you all doing while waiting for the release of the "Embryonics"-2CD? Did you discover the Alchemist-live-MP3's at www.nospono.com (No hot-linking, that's right! Just browse through the list and you'll quickly find the files.), yet?
And now for something completely different!
Are you married? Anyway, check out www.abductionproductions.com.au/, please. It's Rodney's new video business and he makes most of his money by taping weddings. There even is a small clip of the "Alpha Capella Nova Vega"-clip there which I never had seen at all before! I also am looking forward to Vol. 1 of his "'Upskirt'- Life and Deathstyle DVD Magazine"-project!

Well, first of all I'm a librarian and this is just one of my dazzzling abilities! ;) Can you understand why it is that hard for me to find a job? ;)
Anyway, I rummaged around the Nospono-site because the two Alchemist-video clips are hosted there.
Rod told me about his business in reply to one of the fanboy e-mails I pester him (and Roy ... and Rod ... and Adam ... and John ...) now and then. ;)

Sure, just go to http://www.nospono.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=4. There are five historic Alchemist-LIVE-MP3s and one of them is a cover version of Autopsy's "Desined To Fester".

Unfortunately, it's just a short clip of the video but hey, you're more than welcome! I was just as pleased to find it there!

Hey, why not? I'd have him tape my wedding if I could afford his services! :D But no, that won't work because he'll be busy playing Alchemist-songs with the other guys at my wedding ... so some assistant of his must fill in. Oh yeah, and all this will be on the second DVD of the 2DVD-Limited-Collector's-Edition-Set that Alchemist *hopefully* will release in the near future! ;) :D

With these skills (persistent deranged fanboy skills or genuine hard-won librarian skills I havent decided yet) it is a mystery indeed.

There is something quite subversive in a predominantly wedding-centred business having "abduction" in the name. ;)

That's right! *shudder* But here in Germany we have this custom: friends of the groom abduct / kidnap the bride directly after the wedding and the groom has to find / free her and do some chore in order to win her back. Do you know that one in Australia, too?

Thanks! My internet connection hates me at the moment so I'll have to download them elsewhere.

Capella means accompanying, a la A Capella (Without accompaniment), I should know what Vega means, but I canst recall it...
Thanks Captain.

Just got off my arse and did a quick intramanents search, looks like they are all related to stars.

Alpha: The brightest or main star in a constellation.
Capella: A double star in Auriga, the brightest star in the constellation, approximately 46 light-years from Earth.
Nova: A star that suddenly becomes much brighter and then gradually returns to its original brightness over a period of weeks to years.
Vega: The brightest star in the constellation Lyra.

In other video news, Rodney has posted a few of the videos on youtube, including the rarely seen Eve of the War (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zL9k2gaZgkw). Great to see Guppy again. ;)

The song was about a mate of Rods who committed suicide. He called himself Alpha Cappella Nova Vega - believing that that was the name for the stars of the Southern Cross. I checked this out later and it’s really Alpha, beta, etc of the Crux. It was then when we found Epsilon was the pointer star of the cross. It seems he was wrong about the titles but they do have a stellar meaning. But yeah, stars.

I really want to know what Vega means...I've inferred it must means light/s...Since it is apparently the brightest star in that constellation and also Las Vegas I seem to recall means something to the effect of City of Lights...Ipso Facto...

I just saw that Rod massively expanded his YouTube account: Now there also is a five part "Alchemist Embryonics- Unreleased history of Alchemist" series, the "Road To Ubar" clip and "Yoni Kunda" live at Canberra in '95! *drool*
Check it out for yourself at www.youtube.com/plagueofrats!
So I'm busy watching right now ... :-)
I only hope this doesn't mean there won't be any Alchemist-DVD!

as far as I know, that 'Embryonics' documentary will not be released. This will not mean there will not be an Alchemist-DVD in the future, just not this documentary. Check out the 5 parts, as I think it's really good. I really liked the history of Alchemist, some interesting things in there. It's nice Rod placed them on his youtube site.

Yes, I reckon.
Check out this excerpt from an interview (www.ice-vajal.com/a/interview/alchemist.htm) with Adam in November 2007:
...
Will there be a video for a Tripsis song? If so, please tell us about the clip.
We started one for Wrapped In Guilt, but it is merely a little footage of Roy and I at the moment, be working on it next month.
...
I wonder what happened to it.
