Anyone else can answer if they have sudjestions.

Well I am new to bass and just picked up a bass about 2 weeks ago. Currently I am borrowing a pos crate from a friend thats not going to cut it. What sudjestions can you give me?
(power I would need for medium sized gigs without PA help?, company with good reliability and overall best products?, etc.)

I use all Ampeg stuff. Ampeg SVT bass head and Ampeg cabs. There are some good Crate combo amps for bass that get pretty loud, but I would suggest an Ampeg set up if you got the $$$. Mine cost almost $2500

i would say fuck all that...just use a 12" blown speaker, probably 1960"s vintage model accoustic cabnet. And just by a p.a. mixer for the head, make sure all channels are broken except one, your ready to go!!!

roger that. if you can afford it, get an 8x10 cabinet. they're cubersome to tote around but they sound awsome.
