death metal vocals

Hi i'm new. but straight to the point. i am looking to start up some sort of metal band, and i have no idea where i'm going to get a singer, so i have taken up the task of doing it myself. i can sing normally fairly well, but have no idea of how to do this style of singing. i'm thinkin vocals sort of like Ville's style.

my first guess would be just scream and growl from the throat a lot and try to form words, but that doesn't seem to work and is often really painful.

anyone have any tips?

some pointers:

how you form the mouth
--a tight circle (look for pictures of Glen Benton live) will give you a better sounding deep growl
--open mouth will give you better sounding high growl

use the vocal chords like you would while talking/singing lower singing notes = lower growling notes

it also involves using ALOT of air, so work on your lung capacity. LAUNCH those growls out of your stomach, too
