For me it would have to be Dying Fetus.

How can you say Dying Fetus is not the best metal band?!?!
They're vocals sound like dragons roaring, they're drums sound like thunder, and they're guitar and base are just plain kickass... Grindcore is different than metal thats why I said metal, not grindcore, but the best grindcore band would have to be Assuck, no contest.

dont get me wrong...i like DF alot..been listening to them since Infatuation with Malevolence..
but there are so many other Killer bands out there....i cant say 1 band is better than every other....its impossible...

But I also stick to my favorite bands I might listin to another every once every few weeks but I always listin to Dying Fetus, Gorgasm, Fuck... Im dead, and Assuck, which in my vieware some of the best bands out there.

No im not judging them by their name, ive heard alot of Dying Fetus.
If someone came up and asked me to introduce them to death metal, id send them to Dying Fetus. In My Oppinion (before anyone gets up me) they are a wee bit cliche.
They are good at what they do, and deserve respect, but they dont float my boat personally.
And to big, they do not sound like dragons roaring...which is upsetting, cause their appeal would increase ten fold if they did. An extremely bestial roar is The Berzerker Bass though.
For me grindcore you cant go past Napalm Death, and Nasum.
