And maybe you should buy the CD Rice on Suede, because it'll be the best 10 bucks you invest in death metal this year by far.

Goratory certainly DO have a strong identity of their own...

But I'm gonna help this guy out because I know when I ask for band comparisons... I expect only a vague resembalence... and in that only the "approach" a band uses.

Cryptopsy, Origin, Lust of Decay and Goratory share SOME common threads. Goratory have some very interesting and dense rhythmic ideas they're exploring, and it's held together by some of the greatest free form influenced blast/fusion drumming I've ever heard - and all done appropriately. The Vocals are multi layered, and done with conviction rather than carcass worship. An overall implication of absolute compitense, conviction and refreshing humor presides. They haven't made the mistake of confusing the instinct to NOT have wigger moments... with the instinct to NOT EXPLORE ANY RHYTHMIC IDEAS AT ALL... which seems like a flu in DM right now... all the straightforward monotonous BM style blast beats must GO.... anyways... They DON"T have any hardcore/wigger influences like Cryptopsy, instead rhythm, and humor, but not over the top Bungle humor. They rule. They're doing what 95% of other DM fail to due: Have a musical purpose. Again...

They rule.

Hey ,thanks for the kidn words. I think in Death metal, having a "Musical Purpse" is one of the hardest things to do. So many bands just put riffs together and call it a song. I really truely spent alot of time with each some on Rice on Suede to make it a complete, well flowing CD. It's not an easy thing to do when writing the style of music that we do.
