It really depends on what YOU like best when trying them out. I personally like Jackson.

Probably an ESP LTD, or an Ibanez RG.

The Ibanez RG's are great quality (even the low end ones), but the electronics aren't the best. The quality of low end ESP LTD's aren't the best, but the electronics are pretty good.

It all comes down to what you want, good quality and lacking sound, or worse quality and better sound.
