View Full Version : The Future of Absu

I've been reading interviews, and watching the site and I'm curious to the future of Absu. With the loss of Equitant, Shaftiel, and newer recruit Kashshapu, it makes me wonder where he will get musicians to complete the long awaited "Absu" album. My guess is perhaps members of Melechesh will help out.

Also, the status of the Hallstattian Swords 7" is also in major doubt because of Lord Imperial (of Krieg)'s label Blood Fire Death Productions. For some reason he just plain refused to release it. I guess it doesn't completely matter now since one of the songs from that EP made it to Tara ("Yrp Lluyddawc").

Personally, I think the Hallstattian Swords EP should be combined with the long discussed but never released Thrashstorms EP (an EP of cover songs Absu did if I recall correctly) and release that now to tide us over until Proscriptor and crew can get the new album recorded.

Combining the EPs into a full album for die hard Absu fans would look something like this:

* Hallstattian Swords EP:
1. The Thrice Is Greatest To Ninnigal (Live)
2. Yrp Lluyddawc
3. The Great Battle Moving From Ideal To Actual
4. Old Tombs At Hochdorf
* Thrashstorms EP:
5. Bestial Invasion (Destruction cover song)
6. Transylvania (Iron Maiden cover song)
7. Swing of the Axe (Possessed cover song)
8. Silvester Anfang / Deathcrush (Mayhem cover song)
* Extras
9. The Gold Torques Of Ulaid (From the "Gummo" Soundtrack)
10. Akhera Goiti - Akhera Beiti (One Black Opalith for Tomorrow) (bonus song from "Third Storm..." Digipak CD)
* And if there is room:
CD Rom Video Track - "Manannan"

What do you guys think?

Ssssh, quiet, if you don't tell it to the guys of Absu: I DO have a copy of Hallstattian Swords.

One of my friends is a great underground collector, and he has it from somewhere.
If you'd like, send me some cash for shipping + a CD-R (let's say 10 USD), and I can burn it for you.

4 tracks, total is only 14 minutes, but Yrp... is a bit different version than on Tara, and I can also copy the Dolmen: On The Eve Of War demo plus the Magus: Ruminations... demo plus the Akhera... from the Cythraul digipak.

If interested, pm or email me. (I live in Hungary)

I am really looking foreward to another Sumerian release.
I hope 'Absu' is released, and soon. It is probably in the works right now. Just a guess anyway.
Well, asking here is the best place to ask,
because i'm sure the members of Absu occasionally check here.

I'd like to see the band get signed by someone like Nuclear Blast, Earache, or Serjical Strike.

Go away, you don't know anything about metal. Why the fuck would you want this band on Serj Tanakian's record label?

What is the current lineup of Absu?

To my knowledge it was Proscriptor and Kashshapxu,
but above someone mentions that the new guitarist has left.
This does indeed cast a shadow on the band if it is true.

The current line up is just Proscriptor at this time.

seeing as absu IS an american band, why the hell do all these guys have such kvlt names like Equitant, Shaftiel, and Kashshapxu?

kinda silly if you ask me. :p

but then i guess you could say that for all of black metal.

If I lived in Texas, I would certainly apply to play guitar for Absu, but I don't so yeah.

Nonetheless, I am sure Absu will come through in the end for the final album. And I greatly look foreward to it.
