Or, any information AT ALL on the Skullsick Nation songs.
Also,

I have the "Four the Hard Way" songs copied on a cd-r,

I used to run the MP3.com website for Crisis that had the SN songs up, along with 8 Convulsions. However, according to the band's wishes, the songs were taken down. They did not feel that it represented them at the time, though they were glad for the exploration into a different side of themselves. The songs were a popular download since, at the time, it was the band's only new recorded material in quite a number of years. So some do have it...Good luck...

to be hoest, while the skullsick nation stuff isn't bad per se... it ain't great. If you have the crisis stuff you have the better work. Mostly as I understand it, that stuff was almost a pallet cleanser to them. I still remember my fiance refering to them during that period as Skullsick Stupidbutt. I'm not saying I agreed with her, just that that is what she was saying.

It was a different time for them...
The work reflected the fact that it was a different time...
I remember when I first put it up on mp3.com, a lot of fans emailed me about how it didn't sound like Crisis, or at least the particular sound they had associated Crisis with.
I still listen to the songs and appreciate them for the creative works that they are by the brilliant musicians that make up the band Crisis.
Good luck finding the music and let me know what you think...

I assumed that:
In the late 90's:
Crisis was not getting as big as it seemed like they should have in NYC.
They figured that the clubs and press were not accepting to anything
"too metal", because NYC wants badly to be hip (indie alternative) and
"non-suburban-USA-like" (against something that appeals to a "working-class-kind-of-person").
So they moved to LA, hoping LA was more accepting to "metal"...
but it didn't really work out that way. LA people more like the "concept" of nightlife, than go to clubs looking to HEAR something they could get into (?)
It was more the late 90's (music biz, or the kids , or whatever) that was not taking to metal.
If LA, the new google-searchable band name, and their management (ex-Vixen manager?) had worked out, they would have stuck with the name
Skullsick Nation and the Skullsick songs....and the new outfits or whatever.
These are all my assumptions, but I think that there was some type of rift with their LA management that prevents the Skullsick songs from being released.
I liked the Skullsick songs I heard on the internret at the time, some more than others. I did not OWN a computer and I could not download them to save them.
I like change.
Their new funny clothes and make-up and whatever did not bug me.
For only a split second I thought "but they don't look like Crisis now".
I really think it's bad feelings or money dissapointments...or something like that
that is the reason there is no Skullsick album (or ep),
not creative reasons.
What does anybody else THINK about this?

They are over here... somewhere. (http://www.crisisfanatic.com/forums/) Dont much feel like hunting through the threads for them.

I think that you make some interesting points.
What you say about LA is very true. The club scene is much different than on the East Coast. People don't go so much to be exposed to new music, but rather to socialize. Thus, it tends not to be about the music much at all.
However, the shows that I have been to there have been full of some very dedicated fans, of Crisis and other bands alike. They have been powerful and passionate, though in a different way than on the East Coast (moreso because of a lack of established history in the area). There is a metal scene in LA and it is pretty good. As good as any metal scene can be these days! It's hard on the East Coast, too, sooo...
That period of time was difficult for the band. They had made huge changes in their lives and had been left in the dust by a couple of drummers. They were frustrated and instead of giving in to the frustration and becoming hopeless, they used the time as an opportunity to do something different, something that they really couldn't do as CRISIS. And so along came the SN material...
Now, as far as the overarching reasons for why SN demos were never released, I disagree. It was not about money or management. It was about a certain feeling of being uncentered that the band had while doing the music. While they were freeing themselves to explore every side of their art, they felt as if something was missing. Hence, why they returned to their 'roots' as Crisis. And that's why they had me take down the MP3.com site with the SN material on it. They felt it didn't truly represent them.
The recent Terrorizer article and other articles all touch on this subject. I suggest that you read about this if you want to find out more. The News section of my site also traces this part of their history...
Good luck,
Jackie

Yeah, whatever.
I'm going to believe it's about money or legal entanglements, no matter what I read or what anyone tells me, Crisis band members included.
In my opinion, it would be more honest artisticly to make the stuff available.
I can think back over the history of recorded music, and find examples of...
when something was unavailable, there either was not enough of a market for it, or
it was because of a conflict between the musical artist and whoever else had some type of hold on the recording.
I guess I can also think of examples of artists keeping something unreleased for "artistic" reasons...... but Crisis/ Skullsick Nation WAS REALLY TRYING TO SELL THEMSELVES WITH THAT SKULLSICK DEMO.
Hey, and I liked the Skullsick songs better than
the Hollowing or what I've heard from LSLTS cd.
.....I lived in NYC from 1985 thru 1989 and then 1993 thru 2002.
I was a big fan and went to see Crisis more than any other band, like 10 times or so.
I moved to the LA area after that, but ended up not getting a chance to see "Skullsick Nation".
They seemed totally serious as SN, anybody remember that Tattoo Savage magazine cover? It just seems like business decisions, (smart biz decisions) changing the name back and making a new cd as Crisis.
The SN material ought to be made available to Crisis fans....if possible, but I don't think it is.
Um, and that FOUR THE HARD WAY cd too.
additionally, I went to that CRISIS we've-come-back-to-NYC show last (March or April?) in Brooklyn. It seemed like that day they gained ZERO new fans. Most of the crowd left before Crisis came on.....younger people who want to be into something current who couldn't care less about something from 1994.
All opening bands were Death Metal style and sounded alike. I was bored, but that 16 to 24 year old crowd only wanted the opening bands, and left before Crisis played......maybe it was a school-night.
I was bummed also that nobody was slamdancing during Crisis, and the cowd had thinned out.
And there was this guy taking pictures WHO WAS PUTTING HIS CAMERA DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF OTHER PEOPLES FACES to get a good shot.
Pretty darned annoying and aggravating.
Something I liked about every Crisis show I saw in the 90s was that I ALWAYS saw somebody-else being exposed to Crisis for the 1st time....who, maybe came with a friend, or came to see one of the other bands....and, seeing/hearing Crisis, not on purpose, was blown away and won over.
...That's what it was like for me myself, to the best of my memory, I think I went to see Starkweather and/or Sam Black Church and saw Crisis,
...and, etc.
I saw none of that at the Crisis-returns-to-NYC show.

eep, damn i've been gone a while... had a lot of stuff to read and catch up on here in the forums...
i agree that this material should be made available... i myself loved every bit of it as much as the "official" Crisis material...
and of course i also have a selfish reason for it as well... *laughs*
i don't have the copy of the SN material i had on cd anymore, and that upsets me greatly because now and then i really enjoyed listening to that as a change...
so i'm going to ask, just like this thread started, if anyone can help me get ahold of this again it would be so much sincerly appreciated...

Hey Wretchedsoul I totally seen Skullsick nation songs on Kazaa. I can't remember the names right now.
Actually to tell the truth I didn't get into it. It wasn't that it totally sucked shit I was just expecting Crisis and got Skullsick. It's kinda like you pick up glass of water and drink it but instead of water it's milk or when you are checking out some chick and when she bends over to pick up her purse you see up her skirt and there's a giant penis nestled in a pair of tighty whities there (Well not that horribly awful). That was a while ago I'm gonna give it another spin now that I know what to expect (Skullsick not the weird penis lady or stupid tighty whities).
